Has anyone put a 3.36 ratio diff in a V8S ? What was it like ?

I bought a replacement diff to keep my car running while I try to justify to myself having a Quaife unit. The seondhand one I picked up is an LSD but 3.36 ratio rather than the standard 3.64 for a V8S. Do I put it in ?

Yes, but it will obviously throw your speedo out.

Yep, will need to use my satnav while I have this in. Did any of the S Series use this version of the diff ? I thought the S1-4 used this ratio but not with the LSD ?

Think I'll try it first - I assume it will give me lower revs at cruising speed which may be useful. If I don't like it then I'd be interested in the swap.

According to the Steve Heath book (which is not infallible) all V6's are3.64 and V8's are 3.36

Interesting. According to the tab, my original was a 3.64. I'll check it tomorrow, maybe the tab is wrong ?

No worries drop me a mail if you don't like it. If that's the std spec it's probably the one to go with and would suit the v8 torque.

laugh I was reading your other thread and just debating with myself whether to offer it or not. I'm not convinced yet - other issues have kept the car off the road so I've not really had a chance to fully test it out. I'm going to hang onto both for a while, but there is likely to be one of them up for grabs in the Spring.

Standard spec on a V6 is 3.64, 3.36 on a V8S is what I've always been led to believe.
