Hmmm, probably the best engine paint to use is POR15 but they do not seem to do the colour in which the majority of Cologne engines appear to have been painted from new. The two vehicles I had with Cologne engines from new had the engines in a pretty nondescript grey colour, my S1 original engine was also grey although rather darker than I remember the Colognes when new. I cannot find a pic of an original S in a colour picture which shows the engine colour. I stand to corrected but I wouldn't have expected them to re paint the engines?

Are you after exact (as in concours) or near enough?
This earlier thread any help?
ETA Rust-Oleum will not tolerate the heat close to the exhaust ports, it will burn off in that area.
