I do have a TomTom XL Live but have no idea whether it's capable to loading predetermined routes. How is this done - via the TomTom Home desktop app ?

If you look at the TomTom website and download the instructions for your model then you can see if the unit has this function. Here is the manual for, what I think is, your model, and the one which Barry is interested in.

http://download.tomtom.com/open/manuals/xl_live/re...

If that is the model (please check!) then it looks like you have itinerary planning.

Longers will send the routes as files when he is ready and they can be uploaded to the TomTom via your pc and usb cable using the Tyre for Travel free software. It literally takes milliseconds to upload each route!

It may be worth you downloading the software and trying to upload a sample route from Tyre to your unit.

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Tony

On my 950 I just connect with USB , then you can copy the *.itn files to a folder on your TT called ITN

Just had a quick look. Seems Tyre is only available for Windows, not Mac banghead

8. Will there be a Tyre version for Mac computers, for Linux/Ubuntu or an app for mobile phones?

Answer
We have lots of plans to port Tyre to other platforms. But since we are just a small company, it will take some time to realize them.
For the time being, you might consider installing a Windows emulator (like WINE, a piece of free software) on your Mac or Linux/Ubuntu computer. It will create a Windows environment on your computer. You can use that environment to run Tyre.

This might help

I think you might be with the bank robbers, not the GTS's, but you would be welcome to take a nice leisurely drive with us.
