I know this is an old one, but will Imolas straight off a Chimera fit an S?
15" on the front and 16" on the rear, or do they need to be 15" all round?

Tried searching, but couldn't find a straight answer!

Don't know about 16" on the rear but you can fit the 15" ones all round with no modifications needed.

Easier to look after than the original 8 spokes but nowhere near as pretty.

The Chimaera 16" wheels fit fine on the V8S. The 225/50 tyres are almost exactly the same diameter as the 205/60 fronts. The extra tyre width is accommodated by 1/2" extra width in the wheel which is all on the inboard side so you just need to make sure you have sufficient clearance between the wheel/tyre and the trailing arm and spring/damper.

That's a matter of opinion. I think they're much smarter than the 8-spokes, less boy-racer than the 5-spokes and less bling than the Oz-Racing that I had originally. That's MY opinion. I do agree that they're a doddle to keep clean though.

Have fun,
Graham

Thanks Guys - they're going onto my S3 - so I suppose the best thing to do is suck it and see!

15 inch Chim alloys were std fit all round on later V8S's.

AFAIK all V8S's had a wider track by a couple of inches to S1-S3...not sure about S4...they may have well been std fit on all S4....cannot recal.

I found the 16" rears needed 10mm spacers. Without these the tyres rubbed on the trailing arm of my S3c.
Another consideration was the 16" rears and 15" fronts made my bonnet catch the floor. I had to drive onto a plank of wood to open the bonnet. The cars are all different and it may have been ride height/tyre sizes but thats what I found. The spacers for the rear also required longer wheel studs to be fitted.

Have 15" Imolas all round on my S3C. No spacers or issues with them.

Vaguely recall that the Chim has different widths front to rear and the S uses the front width - but that may be my memory playing tricks.

I think you're right - they need to be the 15" all round...

Hi Alex,

I'd be very interested.

Tried to email you, but the link wasn't working.

When you get the chance, could you drop me a line at bruce@newnham-house.co.uk and let me know your time-frame and money etc?

There are some on a dreaded website, very close to me, but they are 2 of each, so not ideal....

Just out of interest, that first picture of the S next to the Hurricane looks like it was taken at Old Warden (Shuttleworth), not far from me.

It was a very wet Shuttleworth in 2010.

So here’s another option then. These are my “Euro Wheels” ie the ones I’m going to have booted up for the Euro Tour so I don’t have to fret about my oh-so-pretty but delicate OZ 8-spokes (IMHO).

Now you won’t see me in the car park washing my wheels as soon as I pull up this year. Well, maybe not. biggrin

Thanks Phillpot thumbup

Yes, that's right. Quite a dark version so it will be interesting to see how they look on the car. In case anyone is wondering, the centres are alloy specials so thats how they come to be powder coated. I got them ages ago from a guy on the Gfiff Forum who had a batch made up. Just need to get some tyres now. I'm looking at getting Dunlop Blue Motion in 205/55 at the moment in case anyone has any alternative suggestions. The existing tyres are 205/55.

You could fit the correct size for starters...205/60.
Dunlop BluResponse are good. I don't think Dunlop Blue Motion exist.

Joe, those wheels look gorgeous, I thought mine were good until I saw yours.
They will look fab on your lovely silver V8S, believe me. cloud9
As for tyres, do you mean Dunlop BluResponse? I think Bluemotion is a VW thing that switches off the engine when you stop at traffic lights?............
Phillpot & I have both found the BluResponse to be pretty good, as long as your rear end is not too slack & bouncy...... looking forward to seeing your settings on the suspension Wiki smile We all did it for you.....

Thanks Glen bow

Maybe I was thinking of Blue Rinse then? I’ve warned you about your interest in my rear end. Will you not be told? laugh

Suspension might get done next week all being well. Although “fitted bog standard OE units” won’t look too exciting amongst all the other set-ups. Still, intresting as a benchmark I suppose.

Mine is on 16s front and rear, fitted by previous owner. Both ends have spacers of about 15mm (I think)
