Hi

The inner door operating cable has snapped so the door can only be opened by using the outside handle.

How is the door card fixed? I have the lower clips undone but cannot see other fixings apart from the screw holding the inner handle on.

Also what car did the cable system come from or has others modded theirs?

Remove the speaker, shove your hand up behind the door card and feel around for a nut above the speaker hole. Remove the nut, take off window winder if you have one, then lift up. The cable is actually just stiff wire, you should be able to find something similar at the hardware shop.

Not sure if S1 is the same but on my S3 there are two nuts, a couple of inches apart.

Have some 8mm wing nuts handy - put those on and the job is a whole lt easier next time.

Plenty of help if you "Search"

I suspect their home made appearance that the cables are a TVR special, skilfully hand crafted from a bit of piano wire.

You may well find its not snapped. It simply 'hooks' over the door opener so may well have just come out.

Sure mine used to be coat hangers!

Stick it on ice and get to the doctors quick.

On a more useful note, my S3C was held on with one nut above the speaker - M5 nut on a 50mm long bolt(???) so an 8mm ratchet spanner makes it alot easier - the other bolts on the back of the door card held the arm rest on.

As above, coat hanger wire will provide a robust replacement.

passenger door creaks and groans when opening/closing but does not droop or have up/down play.

We are preparing the car to spray it........how easy! is it to take the doors off to allow painting? and lubrication of the hinges at the same time.........

Simples.... if the bolts come out ok without ripping the bobbins out of the tub!

It's all there if you searchwink

If you do go for doors off, you'll find the foam door checks are more than likely quite tatty, and you'll want them off any way to paint, I found this to be an ideal density to make new ones.
