Was at meeting on Sunday and award not given out to my knowledge
I would like to nominate glenrobbo for this award this year
The go car not show car

Glen just seems to be there at most meetings and gatherings and always makes me and penny smile
And is always there and has the sprit of the s clan

Like to carry on with this as to a good friends memory Ken Appleton 1961 to 2010

As Barry said was given in will try to get to hand over to this years top person

As said some will not know what the award was for
Ken was a top guy in s ownership and to carry on his memory in s ownership and what S ownership is all about
Kens S was a go car as long as it ran and got you there that was it

Here-here Tinks...seconded...

anyone who can fit a tent THAT big in the boot of a TVR and still drive with gusto must be the best nominee this year.

It didn't get awarded last year either, as it was nicely organised by the club, but other marks seem to forget that go-car is what an S is all about...

Andy gave it to me as he wasn't going and I gave
It in to the car club tent, but as they hadn't got
It on the voting form they have kept it for next year,
Maybe I should of just given it to Glen yes

With all due respect, Not 100% sure what the award stands for - but if its keeping the car together with a bog roll and sticky backed plastic, general eccentricity and madness, and marching on through thick and thin - Glen gets it. Well done Glen

Another vote for Glen , I didn't know Ken although im sure we must have met . The award is a great idea and should be carried on .I was at Blenheim and everybody who turned up should have got an award .
I might be out of order here if so forgive me but I think S club has lost something in recent years , it would be nice if an owner or group of owners could take it over and bring it back to the more personal event it was for a few years .

My S ownership started too late to know Ken but from what I've picked up over the last few years I'm very happy to add to the list suggesting Glen be this year's holder of the trophy.

If someone can let me know who at the TVRCC took the award I'll try and see if I can get it to Glen in the not too distant.

Cheers,
Gary

Well I don't know what to say ( but I'll think of somethimg wink )
I turn my back for a little while and you're all at it trying to embarras me!
I really think the award should go to Duncan Pittaway's Sporting Trials S, which was actually Ken's old S. Ken would be proud to see it in this kind of diiiirty action.
I never knew Ken, he sadly passed away before I bought Austin, but from comments on this forum, it sounds like he was a great bloke, who always thought it was more important to be driving his S rather than be polishing it.
I thought the Clarence Boddiger ( that was Ken's PH name ) Memorial Trophy was awarded to the car not the driver, so really it should be nominations for Austin, not me.

Andy, the tent is actually a perfect fit in the passenger footwell, which balances out my vast bulk in the driver's seat & keeps the weight distribution just right for better handling on the twisty bits driving . The boot is for the beer, which initially make Austin handle like a Porker 911*, but the more that gets consumed, the less tail-happy he becomes. ( S2 Mike, perhaps that was your problem on the Barn Farm Run? Too much beer in the boot? The Cat & Fiddle is not the best place to practise donuts! yikes )

  • No coincidence that 911 is the emergency number in the States wink
Anyway, back to the topic, there must be other S's you guys & gals should nominate before the vote is cast. As Tinks says, let him or AutoAndy know your choice via PM if you wish to remain anominumusmus.

Thanks for all the kind comments.

Regards,
Glen & Austin.

Noble as Duncans efforts are I think the award is all about a regularly used car. And preferably used by a regular PH contributor.

I met Ken a couple of times and he helped me out once. I am sure he would have seen Glen as a very worthy recipient. My vote for Glen as well. Plus a mention in despatches for services as S Court jester?

Now, no false modest Glen, but if you do get over emotional you can always dry your eyes on that famous toilet roll!!!

Yeah but Duncan's S goes in places I wouldn't even go in the Mondeo!

No stickers allowed?

Great idea Tinks!

Austin & Glen get a big thumbup from me too. Glen's sense of humour and what he has done to his car are not to everyone's taste but when it comes to getting out there and doing it I've not met anyone who lives / drives in the spirit of the award as much as this pairing wink

I think Glen and Austin would be very suitable recipients of the award!

Glen is a top chap and has a really nice motor.
