Crescent shaped display thing..

Don't know what the thing is supposed to be called. I was bored this afternoon so...
Found some black perspex in the workshop and thought I'd have a go at replacing the manky display thing.
Glued some M6 coach bolts to the back with CT1 as that's what CT1 is supposed to be good for.
Put the shape in with boiling water, 1200 wet and dry to get the scratches out.
Drilled it with a holesaw without knackering it
Time to find out which lights were connected to anything, low petrol indicator even had a blanking plug fitted,
Maybe should have had an icon to indicate when to start walking to the petrol station.
I'll glue the bulb carriers in tomorrow so they sit flat and tighten the fixings too.
Have to find some more things to avoid working

I like that, the original arrangement is naff! There was a post on something similar not that long ago but yours does look like a good method. I have been experimenting with something similar, trying to get a simple solution on a black background. Unfortunately the ambler is damaged close to the aperture where the old plastic cover had been badly reglued. Incidentally, the first thing I did was to move the indicator warning to up between the speedo and tacho, so I will only have 7 lights to accommodate in the 'crescent'.
Hi... I too tried using those 'cheap' warning lights (no insult intended), it wasn't a TVR but the same principle applies.... Alternator charging is stimulated into charging via the Ign warning light circuit, & if the current isnt sufficient it wont trigger. You will have to rev the guts out of the car to get the light to go out. So use a quality warning light unit at least for the Ign circuit. Most of those cheapies dont have a separate bulb & fitting. They are stupid random lumps of glass with a couple of hair thin wires exiting !!! And they are not 'wattage' rated....

Well, to be honest Pete, I have toyed with the idea of having sequential red led's traversing from side to side, mounted inside the bonnet scoop ( of the V6 S ) just like Michael Knight's K.I.T.T. car.But it would mean painting Austin black......
Well, then it wouldn't be Austin anymore would it?

I think a brown light for total brake failure would be a good idea! is indeed brown and sort of twitches on and off when deployed.
