Spent last night at the OHs and enjoyed a nice coffee before heading in to the office this morning.

Driving along the road and is that mrzigaziga in his Wedge 200m ahead? It is how nice. Oh that van looks like they want to pull out of that junction. Eye contact made, good they've seen me. Wait, they're pulling out. Screeeech. Bang.

Teach me to enjoy a morning coffee.

To clarify things. I rear ended a transit van as it pulled out in front of me today. Other than tweaking my knee injury from last weeks mountain bike off, no injuries. Unfortunately, Samy has not been so lucky.

Radiator has sprung a leak.

S4 bonnet has front damage, hinge damage and lock damage. It maybe be fixable I will look over the weekend after I've caught up with the work I've missed today and done my 'chores'.

What is for sure, Samy won't be going to Snetterton on the 22nd.

The other b'ache is Tamy's due her MOT on the 17th and I know she won't pass. So looks like a trip to Str8six for a walletectomy to deal with the things.

I'll take some pics tomorrow.

Being positive, it does give the opportunity to do a 'wide open' conversion.

At this time I don't know what to do. I'm loathed to report it to my insurer as I don't want to write Samy off - which could well be possibility.

I feel like punching a dolphin.

Nightmare the bonnet could easily be fixable and like you say do the wide open mod at the same time

I'm sure you would like a nice alloy radiator in there too.. smile

Be interested to see pics is the front of chassis / wishbones etc ok?

I feel your pain..

Bad Luck Stewart frown

Personally I'd go through the insurance just in case of any whiplash claims from the occupant(s) of the tranny.

If if you feel he was at fault, then persue the claim with his insurance, assuming of course that he has insurance.

Whatever, hope you soon get Samy back on track.

Going to the sausage meet tomorrow morning so will have a look after that.

Spoke to Elmwood TVR this afternoon about getting Tamy MOT'd and prepped for Snetterton. I'm dropping her off on Tuesday.

I'm going to sit on it over the weekend and contact the owners on Monday.

So I've got a load of jobs to do on Tamy tomorrow and then in the office Sunday.

It sure doesn't take a lot to write these cars off but you could presumably buy it back? My insurers, RH classic, having agreed a fair settlement then gave the car back to me.

On the downside, and I'm no expert, but if he got far enough out for you to go into the back rather his side you could be on "sticky ground"?

Hope it works out ok for you.

I struck the passenger side rear quater. Skid marks start at one side of the [side] junction and finish the other side of it when the impact occured.

Luckily I had been covering the brake as there was a break in the traffic on their side and I had half anticipated they might do something stupid. Clearly I should have been more pessimistic. Could have been alot more damage - although I would have struck the in the side rather than the rear quarter if I hadn't got some braking done.

Was a good meet this morning. Certainly raised my spirits.

Annoyingly, I suspect I would have been in a stronger position (insurance wise) if I hadn't braked. However, a lot more damage would have been done.

Had a poke around this morning and it looks like the clamshell, mounts and radiator are the 'only' damage.

magpies, if you could send me some photos of the 'wide open' mod via pm it would be very gratefully received.

Some photos;

I was just looking at the pics & thinking the same thing.

Pre-accident value: £8k,
comprising £4k for the car plus £4k for the indicators.

Does that sound about right? smile

Firstly sorry to see the damage and hope its repairable, however.......

As Mike says this is a real issue and is the reason I have a dash cam in all my cars (I drive enough miles to get fed up with idiots on the road). This paid dividends recently when a bus reversed into my wife on a country road (single track to let a car come the other way) and then drove off. Bus driver first claimed it didn't happen, then when paint showed it did he claimed he didn't reverse inmsurance companies said knock for knock. I produced dash cam footage and suddeenly stories changed. The driver then claimed he didn't see her and didn't know he'd hit her to the plod to avoid the fail to stop presecution. Also this had the effect of immediate full admittance of liability from bus company and their insurance to avoid prosecution of their driver for failure to stop.

A reasonable dash for daylight only costs as little at £30-£40 and is worth its cost on the first incident. These also show close up stuff at night or if in a lit area in my experience, turn on and off with the ignition and record on a loop so need no action once installed until footage needed.

Additionally I have also provided footage to the Plod when a car came at me on the A36 on the wrong carriageway of the dual carriageway doing well over 70 against the flow of traffic with me and several others just avoiding a major head on - don't know whether this worked for prosecution but at least the plod could visit the guilty idiot!!

no Glen.....just I can take a photo with my phone and post it straight to the TVR S page on facebook.

To put a photo on here I take it with my phone then email it to myself. Open the mail on my computer and put the photo in my pictures file. Go ont net and open photobucket and upload the photo. I can then copy the photo, open pistonheads and paste the photo to the correct thread

now which is easier?

Easier maybe but I agree with Glen and refuse to use ttbook or facetter or any of the other commercialised teenager based friends with the world but great for identity theft forums

OMG Mick ! confused
I could never do all that stuff!

I just take a photo on my phone, select relevant PH topic > Post reply > Upload an image (beta) > choose file from my gallery > upload > close > Submit
And Robert is your mother's brother!

It's easier & quicker to do it than describe it.
It must be simple because even I can do it ....... smile
..........................................

Doh!

Well I can when my phone's memory isn't so full. frown

There ya go. It only took me about 4 hours. ( It ain't easy being me wink )
