Cheers Glen.
My Dad who passed away in 1985 had one of these cars. He was a Fire Officer with 3 Fire Stations under his belt and this was the London Fire Brigade Car he would drive between Stations and to major Fires complete with blues and two's.

I think its only motor sport "claim to fame" was very nearly winning the London Sydney Marathon?

In the lead, not far to go when a cigarette end flicked out the window blew back in and caused a crash?

Another obscure competition car, a Hillman Hunter went on to win. Ford, obviously some what embarrassed, went on to "flood" the London Mexico marathon with Escorts to ensure a win, opting for the simple 8 valve 1600cc pushrod engine rather than the more powerful Twin cam and hence the Escort Mexico was born !

teacher History lesson over for today.

Wasn't Andrew Cowan of Mitsubishi Ralliart fame the navigator on that one?
