OZ split rims swap
Discussion
Looking at pics from Blyton, Not Sure I like them no more bit to bling on silver car. Any other wheels considered may powder coat darker anyway think would suit the silver better. mine arent perfect little dink on rim told can be sorted, replaced all bolts and polished by hand this year look great from few feet away but would need professional refurb if you want them perfect. Let me know hope swapping is allowed on here?
It's one of those love hate things. I personally am not a massive fan of the splits, which I why I sourced a set of 8 spokes and wear my slots at the moment. Having said that, I have the deeper dish 16" splits on the back and 15" on front. The deeper dish somehow looks a bit nicer. Its personal choice, and fully done up they look great - but at what cost..... they aint cheap to do up properly
Yes Chris - all three sets. The slots are new old stock, the 8 spokes took about 3 years to amass, one by one, and a set of splits (with the deeper 16" Griffith set at the back). I tend to agree with you - the reason I have taken off the splits is they have got scuzzy and were leaking air. Like you, I had toyed with the idea of painting the centres either in gold (to go with BRG) or a darker colour in the centre - I think that two tone looks good, and I would go that way, if I was restoring them. At the moment, my preference is for the 8 spokes(but that may change). Anyway, priority at the moment, is to stop my car leaking from all orifices, and I'm not convinced I've got all the skills required to fix that. Have pulled out rad, for a recore - just got the major hump when I then spotted the fuel tank leaking and the gear box too. At that point I slammed the door on the garage and walked away - I'll go back in when I get over myself.

I know what you mean. Ordered 41mm socket to remove hub nut with courier delivery. They sent it Royal Mail so did not arrive until I was going away. So, no MOT re-test! They refunded £1.50 extra charge for the courier. Re-installed trailing arm after brilliant Adrian Venn refurbishment and found the wheel cylinder was starting to leak. Decided to have a new brake pipe as well. Local factor, who is very good told me that the pipe had an imperial end fitted into a metric cylinder! Some minor corrosion on rear chassis meant I could just weld on a plate but I may look at an exchange chassis long term. Tightening up the rear hub nut, found that my borrowed torque wrench was faulty and had to borrow another. Lifted the torque wrench up and the socket fell of, landing on the rear wing and taking off a lump of paint. MOT on Monday again and hopefully I can drive J-LLO again. I might feel in a better mood then.....
