Is it worth trying to sell in November?
Discussion
We are now starting the season of dark evenings, wet & grey days, and the most depressed prices for fun convertibles. Obviously it's the very worst time to sell. ( but conversely the best time to buy! ) People are trying to save for the expense of Christmas, and not giving much thought to summer pleasures, except for holidays.
If you really want to sell your S, and also get the best possible price, then wait until Spring when the sap starts rising & we get the first nice warm sunny spell.
THAT'S the best time to be selling, and you can potentially get a grand or so more than you would now, provided you advertise it in the best possible light.
But really, I think you'd rather keep it. Does it really have to go???

If you are leaving her taxed until Jan I'd MOT her when due, assuming in good nick and a pass is likely for the £25 (and there are plenty of garages in my area that'll MOT for that price) you then have the option of driving it if the weather is conducive until the tax runs out, also better for the car than laying up even if you turn her over and move up and down the drive regularly as it is the only way to really work all those old joints like the steering UJs, the suspension etc
Or for the sake of the test fee, pop it through again for 12 months ticket when you put it on the market in the spring. Or agree to do it for the new owner once you have agreed a price.
Another vote for leaving the sale until the spring, not many people are looking at the moment but as always you may get lucky. Just depends on whether you need it gone or can wait it out. Keep it taxed and insured and you'll be able to enjoy it when some nice days come round. It will also make it easier to sell as it'll be easier to arrange test drives for the prospective buyer.

Thanks all, helps to talk, will keep her on the road till Spring
^^^^^........... is the correct answer Sensible choice. In my experience cars will only deteriorate when not used, unless properly laid up & stored in optimal climate- controlled conditions.
Personally, I would rather sell a kidney to raise cash than let Austin go.
So, if its got to go and you have a price in mind where is the harm in advertising it now ?
Are the Classifieds on PH still free if you've been on here a while, think they started charging newcomers?
If all you get are "silly" offers or no interest at all no harm done, hang fire till Spring.
