Cheers, I'm interested. When you're ready then PM me or add at aol dot com to my forum name.

Slowly coming along. I'd like to have been a lot further on but other projects, family stuff and a massive upturn in [professional] work is keeping me busy.

Bonnet? Wait and see. Away this weekend but should be back on it the following week. Both bonnets will be repaired and I'll decide on the day which one takes my whim.

Yesterday turned out to be a home project day. Re-wired and finished the security lighting to the compound and finished exposing the leaking shower. At about 7.30 last night I started on Samy. Tried cleaning up the ARB mounts on the chassis by holding the ARB up but there's not enough clearance. So then tried to remove the ARB. The split pins just snapped off so clearly they need some repair. Then the drop links wouldn't release. Left them with a good soaking of Plusgas and will return to them in due course.

Also cleaned up the rusty steering arm ends and left them soaking in Plusgas. New boots and tie-rod ends to go on.

Painted up the ARB clamps though. So they are good to go back on. Didn't take any photos though. It was dark when I started packing up.

Unlikely to get any work done next weekend as I'm babysitting the neices for the weekend. Does give me the opportunity to order all the wiring I'll need though.

So, list of remaining jobs;

1. Finishing off the paint patching to the chassis - this is ongoing as bits are exposed.

2. Brakes - new KA servo and master cylinder. I have both ABS and non-ABS so will fit what's required. Also adding a pressure switch for the brake lights. Rear callipers are being swapped for wide mouth items and bigger, vented rear discs - 273mm. Need to find a 6-foot scaffold pole for the hub nuts.

3. Welding - various chassis mods and repairs.

4. Wiring - new battery location, switch panel, fuel tank, lights and interior gadgets.

5. Fuel tank - new custom alloy item still under construction. Will be fitted to a galvanised cradle.

6. Bodywork - bonnets need repair, preping and modding.

7. MOT - then on to Mat Smith's for a suspension upgrade and full geo.

8. Paint - being done by others.

9. Rag it - Couple of Euro tours planned including S Club Tour. Then there's all the trackdays I need to catch up on.

Good plan wink

PS Nuts aren't that tight, you only need a three foot scaffold pole!

Right T peices and pressure switches ordered. Given how cheap the pipe kits are I may just order one and make the new copper pipes up myself.

Spoke to Radtec today. Agreed spec. All components now received. rolleyes Should be with me by the end of June.

Now need to sort out the petrol tank cradle.

Spoken to a galvaniser today.

Looks like galvanising is a sensible option. Can be over painted with Hammerite so seems worth a 'punt'.

Just the price at the moment. Minimum order is based upon 100kgs of bits. I'm a touch short at 5kg each for the diff cradle and petrol tank cradle.

So have decided to get the [modded] sump strut galvanised as well along with the bike rack I made for the back of the Box. Can't think of anything else to add but atleast that should 'double' the weight of my order.

Used the hydraulic ramps to get some more height to attack the diff.

Love these! Where did you get them from and how much? I'm thinking of two pairs so I can lift up the whole car so cab you drive onto them from either side. Do that have safety locks or do you still need axle stands to be on the safe side?

Someone did a group buy in the General TVR forum about 14-months back. £225ish from Poland IIRC.

Can be bought direct from the UK though for an additional levy. They are very good. Extra height is really useful. Not a lift, but not all of us have suitable garages.

A few of the guys bought two pairs and do just as you suggest. Combined with tall stands if you need to get wheels off too. They are heavy though.

There is a 'flap' that flips over the lifting piston that acts as a failsafe. Only applies when the ramps are at full height though. Samy's been up on them since I took the photo.

Really don't see the point, they've lasted 20+ years with a bit of crappy powder coat, decent coat or two of paint and should be good for at least as long again?

I'd spend my time and money looking to improve the design so it (the tank cradle) can't will up with water and rot from the inside out.

I'd been lead to believe paint does not adhere well to galv?

Special paints are available. Hammerite's version is ingeniously called 'Paint over gavanised mateal'.

I'm not convinced my petrol tank and cradle are original.

Got sweet FA done today. Went to do the rear hubs and the 41mm sockets I bought are 3/4 inch not 1/2 inch. What a wally.

Regrouped and got together some parts to fit to Tamy.

Free day tomorrow now so will carry on and take some pics.

Ohhhhhh.

Stripped and rebuilt the driveshafts. Not having the right circlip pliers was a pain.

Just watching the end of the Dauphine then off to paint the chassis.

I suspect Samy's body is set a bit off centre.

Whipped out the front ARB as the brackets needed painting.

Got more to do on the front of the chassis as it is flaking badly. Surface rust only, solid underneath so a clean up and paint. Will do it after the welding.

Seems to be sitting very high at the back.

Hopefully the new fuel tank, cradle and battery in the boot will lower it a bit.

Listed out the colours of the wiring that I need.

Will get them ordered this week so I can start the wiring mods next weekend.

Hopefully the correct size sockets will turn up so I can finish the rear brakes and fit the driveshafts.

Ebay here I come.

Hi Stewart,
It wouldn't be a bad idea to get a 3/4" drive breaker bar and use those sockets, which are more robust than 1/2" drive sockets. I've had 1/2" ones split under heavy torque.
Also consider a 3/4 to 1/2 drive reducer & a 1/2 to 3/4 step-up adaptor.
You can never have enough toys in your arsenal. ( Hope that gets past the swear filter wink )

Nice to see you progressing, you're getting there. thumbup

Nice wheels, but I'm not sure if the nearside rear protrusion beyond the wheel arch will pass MoT? - Don't get rid of your old wheels. As you say, Samy's body does look a bit offset, but this is fairly common I believe.
