Repair and Rebuild Begins
Discussion
Went to the Sausage meet this morning. Then came back and got on with some car jobs.
Firstly had to do some work on the Mini ahead of its MOT next Saturday. Front indicator got smashed on the motorway last week so swapped it out for a new one. Unfortunately, meant a bumber off job which was time consuming. Got it done though. Fitted led side lights and chrome indicator bulbs so the front end is neater.
The on to Tamy. Fitted some 16 inch wheels last week and the balance weights just catch the brake callipers on the front. Although annoying left as is. I had thought there was a nail or something in the tyre as it was clicking as I drove. Only using them for a short time.
Then moved on to Samy.
Got the brake servo out and measured up for the new stuff going in. Also moving the coil ala Philpot. Removed some superfluous nuts and bolts. The expansion tank was fitted to some m6 studs that are on a metal plate bonded inside the cabin so I thought I'd make use of it for the brake light switch T piece.
That occupied my afternoon.
Depending on what the weather does, I may get some more done tomorrow.

Having decided to get on with tasks uneffected by the weather I set about sorting the garage first.
Made a load of space which is handy. Then dug out the Ford KA brake kit.
Between the ABS and non-ABS set up I should end up with a decent set up. Two holes line up and I need to drill two new ones. I also need to relieve the inner hole slightly too. A lot simpler than expected.

Annoyingly, the non-ABS master cyliner has 4 ports which would have been handy to fit the brake light switch. It has too narrow a piston though.
Total cost of two set ups was £60 off evilbay. Need to clean up and paint the servo being used. Should be able to make some money back selling the bits I don't use.

Put some temp boots on Suni. Hopefully will find the time before flying out on Weds to get the tyres swapped ready for swapping back on when I return.
Fitted the temp boot to Tamy too. Freshly painted panels should be ready w/c the 10th.
Now just need to get the various hinges chromed and some stainless fixings. A few Ti ones too.

Right back in the UK and back in the flow.
Fuel tank should be with me next week. No works possible this weekend as I have to collect my other half and then on to the SiLs for the rest of the weekend. These people clearly don't understand what's important in life
Next week I should get the various bits of metal work to the chromers for coatings.
So, the following weekend, I should get the brake servo and master cylinder in. Then it's rejigging the copper brake pipes and relocating the coil. Then it's back on the interior electrics.
Once the metal work is back the fuel tank can go in. The boot wiring re-done and the interior wiring finished. Then it's chassis work and the bodywork.
Oh and I need to collect a spare engine at some point.
Should be collecting the freshly painted panels for Tamy next week. They are ready, just need to collect and then await some chromed parts.
Suni's got new boots fitted too.

Drilled the holes and opened up the middle hole for the brake servo. Now just need to figure out how to connect the clevis pin.
Then fixed these in place. Remote oil filter is the next task.
Off to Germany next weekend for a brief TVR incursion. Going to take Suni. So also prepped her for the trip.
Finally, fixed the broken windscreen washers on the Box.

Looks like you've recently changed the top steering uj.
Did the same late last year and had to drill the rivet and fit a nut and bolt because it wouldn't fit on the tiangle spigot thing, looks like you did the same?
Mine developed play after a few miles and the replacement supplied has play before fitting.
Where did you get yours and is it good?

I had exactly the same experience. Had to drill the rivet in the triangular part and ended up replacing the new UJ after a couple of months as it developed play.
