Hope this is good enough together with the photos.
I also added some strengthening plates to where the new box section joins the original. Obviously the under bonnet area will need to be trimmed back depending on how open you want the bonnet to go. Also the photos show the pneumatic struts - most 'hatch back' type should do.

Hi
sorry - I seemed to have corrected the dimension everywhere but this thread
yes on my car that is 165mm not 650mm - so not that far out then!!!!!!
appologies
I recon that all of the steel work (beacause of the sizes) should be available from your local fabricators scrap bin so should work out very in-expensive.

Quick update;
Spoke to the insurance company last week and they wanted some further breakdown of costs (on a £125 section of the quote) but didn't seem to baulk at the overall price. So looks like Samy won't get written off.
Should have a few parts turn up this week so I can sit down and decide what bonnent is going on. I also need to write up the job sheet of the other things I should [need / want to] get done!

Hi Stew , good to have a chat with you yesterday , fingers crossed that the engineer shares your will, to repair the S , as you demonstrated with him, your commitment of a long term ownership with the improvements you intend to make ....and spare parts already bought ..
As with The S, it's always the cost of repair , value of car argument ?
On a sad note as you explained that your chosen body shop repairer , may not be in a position to facilitate for some time the repair of your car , then give me a call , I know GF repairer and painter , who is one man band , which keeps cost to a reasonable standard ..
