hi for some time now fuel mpg. has bin poor mot comes back hi emissions 2.9 s3c no cat car runs great no backpress from rockers filler cap know ecu controls mixture what gives ecu the message to adust the mixture and whare is it to be found thank you for your help in advance (william)

My S2 suffered from high emissions and just scraped through the MOT a couple of years ago. I found that there was an air leak through the base of the rusted out servo . Once servo was replaced along with the vacuum pipe the emissions dropped by at least half to 'perfect' in the words of the MOT tester.

Could be the oxygen / lambda sensors or their poor wiring.

worth checking the vacuum system too.

An oil change could help bring emissions down as well. Also a long spirited drive to fully warm up the whole system, could clear any blockages in the oil ways, it also adds to the fun.
