Finally got the trailing arm off biggrin

As expected, it's impossible to get a bolt in with the body mounting bracket where it is so that will have to be adjusted/replaced.

Fed up of spanners and sockets so decided to give the manifolds a lick of paint before packing up for the day.

Looking forward to a delivery of shiny bits tomorrow wink

finding a shard of broken windscreen hidden in the carpet

stuck out 15mm both sides before the ends snapped off.

photo taken with my other hand while waiting at A&E - fun driving through town to get there too

if it had been metal I probably would have extracted it and wrapped the wound with electrical tape and carried on

back in the garage today to fit the rear lights and new number-plate light holder (now BMW LED unit)

Then an hour and a half chasing only 8v at the stop light -ended up as dirty fuse contacts

And from the wider angle, the bolt on seatbelt mounting looks to be in the wrong place to me?

What are those two ridges around the trailing arm just behind the bush? They shouldn't be there - that is one continuous tube. Are they welds? Has the arm been cut and adjusted to fit a bent chassis (bearing in mind the dent in another photo)?

My seat belt bolts aren't central either, but they're not as close to the edge as yours. But who knows if it was built like that? Seems unlikely though, because they wouldn't have been able to get the bolt in the trailing arm...

with there being 2 welds I would guess a piece welded in, probably to sort the toe angle of the wheel.

Can only compare with the S2 and it's difficult to tell from the photos.
If I'm right and it's only a guess,
The trailing arm bolt should have the nut on the seat belt end,
allowing the bolt to come out past the upright that picks up the coil and spring.
But the trailing arm hanger is too far back causing the bolt to foul the upright.
maybe the hangers don't line through which would explain the extended wishbone leg,
and this was instead of getting the chassis sorted back when.
Have you checked to see if the trailing arms match?
Resite the hanger and restore the trailing arm is probably the most proper way to go.
I'm sure others on here can advise on what's best to do.

Measurements confirm trailing arm has been extended. frown

I think the best way forward would be to send the trailing arms off to Adrian Venn and have this section re-done?

Been a bit slack this week, nothing to do with the discovery of chassis problems (out of sight out of mind).

Headed out to the garage today with a printout of TVRGits body lift guide.

Looks can be deceiving, I thought that these had been packed out with something but no, it was just rusty metal, had a slate like appearence confused What's left feels about as rigid as a kitkat wrapper.

I've undone the centre console and pulled it out the way but couldn't get anything on the bolts. Do the eyeballs in here feed hot air or are they linked to the cold air pipes? The gear knob had been glued on furious

Exhaust is off, every nut and bolt required a different size spanner or socket. Who on earth bodged everything on this car furious

All bolts requiring one set of hands are out but gave up on the front footwell bolts, turns out that paws don't work as well as hands.

Took a few more engine bits off and noticed this, can anyone tell me what it is? The plastic cover is cracked and a bit battered and I have the need to add it to the ever-growing list.

"Mole" grips are what you need, clamp them on the bolt heads then pop underneath and spin the nut off wink

there is supposed to be a rubber piece between the body and the chassis bracket. As there is at all of the mounting points

All bolts out now, couldn't get the petrol filler off and was hoping jacking the back up by 10mm would put a bit of tension on the pipe allowing me to pull it off.

The front lifts ok but jacking the back lifts the whole car. confused

Am I correct in thinking the top seatbelt mounts (behind shoulder) dont go into the chassis?

Ran out of time for today, will have another go tomorrow.

can confirm the shoulder points do not connect to the chassis.

Have you disconnected the fuel filler within the boot?

The rear must be raised first - by at least to clear the fuel tank before raising the front. I all comes up slightly rearward and not vertically.
