That's great; many thanks. With hindsight, what would you have done differently?
That is the 'with hindsight' version.

without hindsight version: drill more holes in to take the protrusions, paint the door and find the mirror on the passenger side cant be moved into proper position. as all of this was done with the doors off the car - just using the original mirror location as a guide.

Nice onesmile
Time to get rid of the linkage assembly and lose 100g.
Where did you get the nice afm hoses?

Have moved the air filter so just a couple of straight sections of ebay.

Do you reuse the same throttle cable cable? Did actually have a quick look at the linkage yesterday but seeing it done previously gives some reassurance that I'm not going to implode something.

Was so looking forward to full length hoses with the bends already sorted. Nice mikalor clips too.

Same cable threaded under the plenum for tidyness, the bracket is a combination of the coil mounting bracket and the linkage so that the plastic housing clip could be used.
Reduces pedal travel slightly/more response from throttle plate.
The main disadvantage is that the return spring needs beefing up, I put a peg in to give it another 180 degrees tightness on the spring but probably better to double up on the springs some how.
Mike's done this in stainless, I'm sure he'll put a picture on now the s word hs been mentioned.

Picture...... clicky

Changed mine to get rid of the over complex and messy standard linkage and gets around the next to non availability of original throttle cables smile

Christmas tree packed away, time to get back into the garage.

Started off by getting under and cutting off a number of cable ties, removed the lower coolant hose, disconnected the wiring from the chassis in nearside wheel arch and checked there was enough play in all pipes and wires to lift.

Managed to get it up this far but now its stuck again, jacking the rear of the body lifts the whole car up, it's now clear of the petrol tank neck and the body isn't touching the tank in any places, so what else could it be stuck on. I've stuck my head and a torch in every place it will fit but I just can't see whats holding it down. The only place it does look a little tight is around the chassis where the gearbox sits but it's not touching.

I've been jacking up front then rear by 10mm at a time, is it just the way I'm lifting it or could something else be stuck that I have overlooked?

Thanks in advance.

I believe there are 2 securing bolts for the body into the chassis near the gearbox, have these been removed?

Please keep us updated on how you progress, as interested in the body lift......

All the best and good luck

The rear must be raised first - by at least to clear the fuel tank before raising the front. It all comes up slightly rearward and not vertically.
^^^^^ Wot Mick said.

Kind of like removing a shoe from your foot, but inside out!

Now if that doesn't confuse you, you're as draft as me silly

try using lights/torches and a mirror (on a stick?) to check the full area under the body / top of chassis for any connection and / or pinch point. Check every cable / hose to make sure not under tension.

You could try lowering the front back down and raise the rear.

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Pretty sure no more bolts as I've managed to get the body up a couple of inches front and back, something would have snapped by now if it was still bolted down, can confirm handbrake removed and cable not catching anywhere in view.

As advised I will try dropping the front back down and then attempt rear lift again as I've been trying to do both front and back a little at a time.

Am I being optimistic in hoping to raise enough to be able to pass the grinder between outriggers and sills without following body off guidelines? rolleyes

From what I have read (I'll admit to not doing that particularly well) mostly partial lifts are done without draining coolant and brake fluid, I have drained and disconnected both. Ideally I'd have the body off but remember this task started as a thorough service, addition of shiny bits, with a chassis touch up where required, I just don't think I have the room to take it off completely, it's in a single garage with a flat roof and took best part of an hour to manoeuvre through the front door.

Also slightly put off by the fact that once the body is up it's not simply a case of stripping and painting, I need to have the corrective welding done to put right the previous bodge job, I can't weld (yet) and whilst I'd love to learn and happy to send myself on some sort of course, I don't think that Trevor's (named by better half whistle) the best place to be practicing.

Project hindered at the moment by constant visitors, buffet food and a distracting yet plentiful supply of single malt, real ale and good wine though the other halfs back at work tomorrow so I can get back on the case.

Not exactly loving her (him) but not giving up just yet.

Brake and clutch lines should have enough "give" and only coolant hoses that might get tight are the heater pipes into the bulkhead. I had fuel tank and cradle off (less possible obstruction) and seats out (less weight)

This is where I got mine up to, seemed about as far as it wanted to go but can't remember what or why it wouldn't go any higher.

Lawrie,
Well done so far :thumb up:

Have you removed the bolt that secures the bottom of the boot lid strut?
I believe this can sometimes catch on the fuel tank as you lift the body.
