can you not measure it?
If no calipers available this is my "make shift" way, cut a slot out of a piece of cardboard, little bit at a time until it just slides over the tube, then measure the gap
As for gauge or thickness I'd guess at 2, maybe 2.5mm ? If its to be repaired presumably you'll be cutting out the corrosion back to good metal to weld a repair in, measure the piece you cut out?
Funny isnt it, after all these years of metrication in the UK (and I was trained in metric before that) you go into a steel stockist and ask for 57mm and the guy looks worried, then you ask for 2 1/4" and all is well!
Now, must check the tyre pressures (in psi!) and make plans for a drink (pint) tonight. Tomorrow I have to pick up some wood, the supplier only sells in metric now, 2.44m is the most convenient length he has! (8ft!).
My TV is in colour, as is my laptop, both Japanese Toshiba, and sold with a screen size in inches!
I have an item to ship to America, the purchaser wants to know the exact size......yes, you have guessed it, in inches!
A pet one of mine is that we teach our kids in cm, which is not even an SI metric unit! I would have been dragged out and shot for using cm at work in an international company which was 'metric' in the 60's!.
What a mess my generation is leaving!
