Has anyone else had problems with PH, Glen can't get on it now, it's fine for me, it could just be Glen, has he been banned for some reason ? he's starting to panic now and has gone to the pub :-)

No problem for me. Really wouldn't like glen to have to go into rehab, we need the bard back. But maybe he has really been a 'very naughty boy'?

That would be taking the pi$$ glen is a legend.

When I was banned I thought PH was down when I tried S forum but clicking on Gassing takes you to a parc ferme thread where you can discuss with mods away from prying eyes.

Mods are you able to let us know if Mr Glenrobbo is in parc ferme or is his pc just having a brain fart?

Thanks

Good idea Mike. Security not an issue as it is in the family.

I have not had any problems either.

Could be Pistonbroke rather than Pistonheads if he has to go to the pub for longer periods.....

Anyway we need his words of wisdom.

Hi Everybody,
beerGood to know you've all been talking about me behind my back smile

After TWO WHOLE DAYS with NO PH yikes, I could take it no more beerbeerbeerbeer, so here I am at my local library where I've managed to log on successfully ( apart from the usual user/keyboard interface ineptitudenessness ).

It would appear to be a problem with my phone, although just PH is affected for some reason. I can get the title page on the forum OK, but when I click on a topic, the screen just goes a white blank. at least it's better than BLACK ( or RED wink, obviously! )
So it seems I now have a paranoid Android to cope with.
Unless I have been banned but they haven't told me and haven't realised that this is actually me, Glenrobbo the Bad, because they haven't twigged that I'm on an actual real computer thingy.

Unfortunately, here at the Library, you have to pre-book an hour time slot, so I'll have to sign off for now, and hope to be back on Monday.

Now I've got to sign up to join the AA. Apparently wink

Bye folks wavey

Excellent Glen, good to have you back.

I have a vision of you supping beer in the library like some old dosser.

You really need to get a PC.

I had and still have problems with the forum on my old BlackBerry.

I can read stuff but it's not set out as well as it used to be and it comes up error if I try to open a new topic or reply to one.

I was on holiday last week when it started so thought it was a problem with international carrier. Obviously not.

All fine on home PC but hopeless on phone.

PistonHeads have done something somewhere.

You lot have had it too peaceful for too long!

Yes I is back! It is me, Glenrobbo the barred bard.
I have taken control ( well, sort of confused ) of Barry's NOOKie Pad thingy and I can now post anything I like with no fear of retribution at all. Mwahahaha! evil Well except from Barry when he gets slung into PH prison. Sometimes he's just too trusting wink

It would seem that my 4 yr old paranoid android is no longer capable of communicating with the new updated PH version 20.917 hamster powered software interface compatibilitittie PRO data uploader device modulator engine.
This has resulted in me staring endlessly at a screen that only shows a picture of a polar bear in the frozen snowy arctic wastes on a really foggy day.

Austin & I have sallied forth unto deepest Essexland in a bid to remedy this grave situation. ( This is my third attempt, I tried twice last night, but both times I seem to have hit the "Delete everything you have laboriously typed for last 35 mins" key, and all my efforts vanished into the ether. typeragebanghead

So I am faced with a stark choice:
1) Spend a large amount of my meagre pension on a new device instead of feeding Austin's petrol habit. yikes

Or
2) Climb up the mountain and descend clutching a tablet that will show us all the true path and the way to S-World domination. ( Ooh. I like that word! )

Or
3)Rely on the local library for my PH fix whenever I can actually book a time slot.*

Unless one of you dear friends can suggest an alternative ( but keep it clean please wink ) What do YOU think?

  • For those denigrators implying that old gimmers like me can only manage it once in a whole hour, I actually did it TWICE in one slot, and that included the waiting time for the nice library assistant to come over and show me how to "Log on" or whatever it is you're supposed to do to get the bloody thing to work irked
So Yah boo to you blah

I do have one big worry now: If this modern age of built-in redundancy means that stuff is obsolete and useless after only 4 years, what chance do I stand? Or for that matter, what about poor 27 yr old Austin?
Scares the scensoredt out of me I can tell you........

I guess I'm gonna have to go shopping for a new pad very soon.
Damn this incontinence!

A library is a place where they have rows & rows of shelves stacked with lots of things like Kindles but made out of many sheets of paper bound into handy things called "books" that don't need batteries or internet wi-fi dangly thingies and don't suddenly pack up when you're halfway through something interesting.
They are also free to use and are nice welcoming places for us old folks to go to in the day to be warm for a while.cloud9
The only drawback is that they don't serve beer frown *
( Probably just as well ? )

  • There is a handy Wetherspoon's about 100 yards away, but it does mean crossing the busy main road, which apparently I'm not very good at frown
They also have some computers available for public use ( you have to join & get a library card and book a time slot first ) which is brilliant if you can see the symbols on the keyboard because most of them have worn off and it can take five minutes to find out where the ruddy question mark is hiding ???.
And the keyboard may not be all that hygienic to use, hence my long sleeved purple rubber gauntlets. Can't be too careful. wink

I haven't tried a factory reset on my phone because I'm not sure where the HTC factory is located.
It could be in China or Korea or Malaysia or somewhere else far away, and I'm not sure I could get 97 ron petrol out there for Austin for the return journey.
I shall have to do more research on the subject before committing to such an expedition. driving
But thanks for the suggestion anyway Jeremy thumbup Edit: Sorry, I mean Lawrie
