Ooooooooooooh, I like the sound of that! Must be the track day effect.

But did you know that most of the S sprinters have fitted sneaky stuff like 5.0 litre V8 or Cossie engines?
But it's all done on a handicap system. Over a 3 minute course I reckon I would be entitled to a 90 second start.

90 seconds is way to much for you, a STIG like racer, and Austin.

I will use the Chim for the first year and see how I go. If I like it I may look for another car to use and abuse!

Just abuse the Chin & get a decent S for best smile

Do the regs stipulate that a roll cage must be fitted?

Good to see that there is going to be a busy weekend around my birthday. Lots of planning has taken place. As the saying goes:

"A plan more cunning than one from a fox that's been named Professor of Cunning at Oxford University"

I live between Kenilworth and Stratford Upon Avon so will be able to lend a hand with the build up (sciatica allowing!).

That's a very kind offerTony thumbup

Seeing as it's around your birthday, how would you like to be in charge of bunting procurement?
After all, we couldn't celebrate the special day without bunting, could we? wink

Glen

It is easy to work out the required amount.

Consider this:
How long is a piece of string?
When you know that I can obtain enough triangles to suit.

We will have it all sewn up in no time.

Thanks Tony.
But be advised that for health & safety reasons it may be neccessary to file all the sharp points of the triangles to prevent injury. Safety first young man. We have to think of all these things you know.
( I think about triangles quite a lot. )

From the MSA Year book - Roll cage in not mandatory, although recommended.

Only required if you intend on rolling it, I think.

Could you be tempted to come and play?

Sorry Andy,

Much as I would love to join you, I will be far too busy helping to support my favourite distilleries, many hostelries both locally & nationally and further afield, going on scenic runs, driving many many miles for breakfasts & fish'n' chips, blatting round Spa, and tinkering with Austin's bits.
Oh, and helping to organize the odd S event now & then.

So there really isn't enough time to come and play with you for a season of sprinting. Plus it would require a considerable amount of dosh spending to become anywhere near competitive, which my meagre pension could not sustain. It is mostly earmarked for petroleum and beer.

Another consideration is the fact that I'm no spring chicken, and I have the reactions of a sloth on sedatives, so it would take hours of punishing self-denial and a rigid diet & exercise regime to regain the finely honed fitness levels of my younger years.
I cannot contemplate doing so, not after the amount I have invested to attain my current state of near perfection. It would be such a waste.

Finally, to take part in Sprinting would require "Putting some numbers oon it", and as everyone on here knows, I absolutely abhor stickers of any form, I consider them to be an eyesore that ruin the pure lines of our beautiful machines. You won't catch me sporting stickers, no siree! wink

I hope to attend some TVR Speed Challenge events as a spectator in the coming season, so I hope to see you "getting it on" with John Carter, Dave Wilkins, Alastair Holloway, Simon Smith and the other guys.
If you can get anywhere the S guys in your Chim, you'll be doing well.

I will be pleased to lend you my support, as long as you promise to wash it before you return it to me.

Good luck mate thumbup

Message forwarded from Glen;

SCH2015 Official Rumour Control Dept - Bulletin No. 2

Phase One: Donington Historic Festival Sat 2nd, Sun 3rd & Mon 4th May 2015

To all you lovely 'S' and other TVR people out there wishing to attend this event on either one, two or even all three days ( you don't really want to miss the main SCH day at Stoneleigh on the Monday do you? ): Now is the time to be ordering your tickets from this website:
www.doningtonhistoric.com
or by telephoning their 24-hr Ticket Hotline on 0844 873 7355

Please also have a look at CAR CLUB INFO on the Donington website.

You'll have to order your own tickets for yourselves because Alan & I cannot possibly hold everyone's hand or create a one-stop shop for all your SCH needs smile Especially with my lack of I.T. skills...... not to mention total lack of financial resources!

But before you order, check out the Donington Historic Event on the TVRCC Future Events for the full details and the generous 'Two adults for the price of one' special deal using the exclusive TVRCC discount code. smile

Please note that if you wish to use the Club's infield display area ( TVRs only ), you must arrive before 11:00am, and you will not be allowed to leave before 15:00hrs.

Subject to availability, there will be clubs' parade laps each lunchtime, so you may get lucky!

You must book your infield pass at the same time as ordering your tickets.
Do not order an infield pass if you do not intend to park infield, or if you are in your non-TVR daily driver. In either case, you will have to use the general public car parking.

Booking deadline for advance tickets is 5pm on 25th April, but you don't want to leave it that late do you?

There will be some spectacular racing on the Saturday ( in addition to the parade laps smile ), check out Donington's website for details of the programme.

Those of you wishing to attend Stratford Festival of Motoring on Sunday 3rd May, obviously only order Donington tickets for Saturday 2nd.
The choice is yours if you wish to attend Donington both days or all three smile

Stratford FoM should be opening for entry applications very soon, they fill up very quickly, so keep an eye on:
www.StratfordFestivalOfMotoring.co.uk

REMEMBER we will only be attending on Sunday 3rd May. ( no discount unfortunately )

Our intention is to camp at Stoneleigh the whole weekend, there is no need to pre-book this. We have our own designated TVR display area, the camping may be located elsewhere on site, but does have shower & toilet facilities.

For less hardy souls, local hotel choices are being investigated.
Further details in due course hopefully or you can choose your own.

SCH2015 CHARITY
Alan has nominated our charity this year and I fully concur with his choice.

It's the Sue Ryder Cancer Care Trust, which as you may know is the worthy cause which our own Longers has tirelessly supported for quite some time. A big thumbs up for his efforts!

I'm sure most of us have been touched in some way by this disease, and we hope you will support us in our fund raising efforts in any way you can.
Any gifts for tombola prizes will be gratefully received at our Stoneleigh base on the weekend. smile

That's all for now folks.

Watch this space for the next Official Rumour Control Dept Bulletin.

thumbup Thanks Alan, I must get some i-glue ( or is it e-gloo? ) & a pair of e-scissors ( ice-izzors? )so I can do my own cutting & pasting. They never taught me these strange new ways when I was at primary school 100 years ago.

I seem to have generated a bit of confusion ( it's not the first time! ) about the SCH weekend's events.

To clarify, you are free to choose which events you wish to attend on each day, as long as we all get together on the Monday for the main SCH gathering, which will be at Stoneleigh where our camping base will be for the whole weekend.
Camping at Stoneleigh is available from midday Saturday until midday Tuesday for those who wish to make a full weekend of it, and there is no obligation to go anywhere else if you'd rather just chill, as I'm sure some will prefer.

The options to attend Donington and Stratford are viable options for those who want to go to them, both venues being within a reasonable distance from our Stoneleigh base, enabling us to return there late afternoon each day.
Alan has negotiated unrestricted passage for our cars into and out of the Kit Car Showground, as long as we behave in a sensible manner, which I'm sure we will.

We thought it better to embrace these simultaneous events as a bonus, instead of regarding them as a rival event clashing & diluting SCH 2015 attendance.
I hope this makes sense.

But remember the onus is on yourselves to order your own tickets/ entry pack for Donington & Stratford if you wish to attend those events.

There is no need to pre-book entry tickets or camping for Stoneleigh IF YOU ARE IN YOUR TVR, they are not available in advance. Just pay for camping and/or passenger(s) on arrival. Prices and details on link below.

If you will be attending in your Mundano Eurobox or similar, then you would save by buying tickets in advance.
Visit the Stoneleigh website:
www.nationalkitcarshow.co.uk
and click on 'Prices and Advance Tickets'

Last date for advance booking is 20th April 2015.

Hope this clarifies things.
Any questions, PM Alan or myself or post on here.

That's brilliant news gents, thank you very much clap

Don't forget, it's people like you who offer the best support for Sue Ryder by donating your £s (and sometimes €s!) to them, all I do is organise an event or set up a online donations page for a cycling challenge wink

For anyone unfamiliar with Sue Ryder here is a link to their website http://www.sueryder.org/
I have seen the work their staff do and they are an amazing bunch of people.

I haven't read all the thread but charities gain a lot by utilising the tax relief. Gadge did a great job by setting up Just Giving sites previously smilesmilesmile
