I need a new cradle - the old one is worse than the main chassis! I may just go for a direct alloy emplacement tank from DG. Less than £300 IIRC , though I must get head around any changes to the fuel system for the 24v engine.

Yes. David Gerald.
Just checked and realised the cost is nearer £400 - could be plan B! Spec looks good though with baffles (no foam). I'm guessing you could get a custom built alloy one for the same price.

I spoke to Radtech about mine - the sender and pump really bump the price up but do eliminmate a couple of silly issues.

If I go that route I'll relocate the fuel filter to under the bonnet.

Here is an update:

Trial fitted bits to finish things off before the powder coating.

Engine and gearbox fitted fine, as I expected, and I hope some new engine mounts will raise it a little further from the chassis rail and ARB.

LSD out of Granada Scorpio was no problem either, and seems to be the same ratio as the one already in my S3.

Body and bonnet fit was OK, but needed to drill body mounting holes in the new chassis plates and make some minor mods to one rear fixing plate and the new bonnet hinge brackets. All sorted now!

Enough engine clearance at the bulkhead and minumum 15mm under the bonnet. This would be enough but since I intend to raise the engine about 10mm I think it better to make a wider air scoop!

Checked the wide-open design worked - excellent!

Off to the powder coaters when it is all dismantled again . . .

. If I remember correctly this was just with new std engine mounts fitted under bonnet but as you can see exhaust is very tight the only thing that is tricky in the conversion as I found it ,also fitted the brakes from the Scorpio but 5 stud so different wheels etc. hope this may be of some help to you. Useful pic off the headers - thanks for that. I still need to sort out the prop shaft from MT75 and the exhaust, but I aim to get the chassis rolling first. Sounds like I'm going down a similar route on the brakes, but I have four hole discs for the rear.
Cheers. Tony.

. . . is now very shiny and very red cool

Apparently the correct way to powder coat a chassis is:
Complete all weldin and remove sharp edges;
Re-blast to key new metal and remove any last traces of rust;
Heat in oven to remove any grease etc;
Apply zinc coating whilst hot;
Then apply flexible epoxy coat.

TVR please take note !

This had better last longer than just a few years!
Tony.

you must have the engine lower than mine as I needed a larger scoop[ to clear the plenum

Hi Mike
That's interesting and worrying at the same time! It actually looked to me as though I had about 20mm clear beneath a standard scoop. I was even considering modifying a spare sump I have and lowering the engine slightly to stay beneath a standard bonnet.
I'll probably check the clearance again when I have the chassis rolling with engine mounted.
Cheers.
Tony

I did install with new Rallydesign engine mounts so may be a little higher due to them?

Yes. I think they are worth about 10mm extra height on top of my old ones, which I used to mock up. ( I have now got some of those new mounts plus the metal covers). That will improve my sump clearance I hope, and takes bonnet clearance from 30mmm down to 20mm. Well worth checking again I think!

it will fit under bonnet but tight. This is with std mounts. But being low it makes the ex manifolds v tight but had no problems with sump. Richard

Quick update on progress.
I checked over the engine (it was a runner in the Scorpio anyway) then cleaned up and fitted to the gearbox. The box needed a major rebuild really (new second gear, bearings, etc. etc.) but all sorted now.
I had a few issues with the brakes but they are now essentially the same set up as a Griff 500 - 260mm front and discs at the rear. Mounted the engine and gearbox recently. Here are a few pics:

Quick question for the MT75 boys. Did you fit the rubber coupling between gearbox and prop? I'm about to get a prop made up.
