any-one going to this? Late May BH

I'm in conversation with Longers (am I allowed to say that?)

Although it looks like most are going to meet Fri morn in Calais, I don't fancy the long boring drive to/from Dover from Teesside which will also cut deeply into the restricted mileage. So booking Hull-Zeebrugge.

Itinerary will include a detour around the 'Ring as well as a drive around the Spa circuit.

So looking forward to first trip out with the S

I'm going smile I put up a post a while ago asking if any one was interested in extending the trip by a day or two to make it more of a holiday. Taking a trip to the 'Ring was one of the suggestions. There is a basic hotel near the circuit which is in turn a short walk from a great restaurant.

Is anyone else interested in adding on a day or two to extend the tour and get in some "practice" for the Euro Tour proper?

I believe Longers trip includes going to the 'Ring earlyish Saturday morning before going into Spa (only 60 miles between the venues. Also during the week the 'Ring is only open to the public after 17:00 if at all. Hotel is near Spa circuit or camping.

I haven't seen the itinerary yet, but we did do a flying visit to the 'Ring on the last Spa trip. It was a lovely drive over to the circuit but it was incredibly busy when we got there, traffic jams getting into the circuit, and the track was like the M25, as those brave enough to drive it will confirm. I was scared just watching! The track is be much less busy during the week. We visited the 'Ring as an add on day to the 2010 Euro Tour and spent a whole afternoon there.

Mick - if you want to go Dover/Calais with the rest of us you're welcome to stay over at my place on Thursday night. I'm in Buckinghamshire, about two hours from Dover.

Mick, do not worry, there isn't an "itinerary" you must follow on these trips. But there are plenty of suggestions to help you get the most from your visit wink

I know some of the guys want to head to the Ring and Saturday morning is the best time because the racing at Spa doesn't start until the afternoon (practice and qualifying in the morning). The only problems are the all you can drink bar on Friday evening (always causes a few casualties!) and the organisers want us at Spa for as much of the day as possible - we are a large part of their show in the Paddock which means we get favourable ticket prices so we cannot be too late getting there wink

Joe is right that it will be busy, very busy, because it's a bank holiday but there are no evening sessions (which are much quieter) to fit in with our visit.

All of the above assumes the Ring will be open for Tourist Laps. Their 2015 timetable isn't available yet...

Was ney me asking for 'an itinery'

but once sorted I could do with a copy of your route from Calais (would probably look to join at your lunch stop if poss?)

Will book Hull-Zeebrugge when I know which nights I'll be travelling.

1. Has anyone booked ferries yet?
2. Does anyone fancy adding on a day or two?

I've had a look on DFDS (used them last year) but no discounts or deals yet, hoping they'll have some "offers" come the new year?

Don't forget this is a bank holiday weekend so I doubt there will be many ferry deals available.

The perfect excuse for extending the trip for a day or two. What we can save on the return ferry can go to cover a few extra biers laugh

Help and advice.........

Does anyone know if you need a helmet for the parade laps?

My son is also going in his hard top car, would he need one for that as well?

Thanks Tony

Well, the gang's all here ( mostly ).

Plus ca change & all that.....

It seems we've drunk all the 30cl bottles & they've only got 4 more 25vl bottles left.
And they won't let me upload dodgy photos here in France.

Got to go & find my Old Speckled Hen supply...... beerbeer

Have a great time guys. I remember 2012 and will never forget such a superb trip. I never know how Longers produces such fantastic outings - he is legendary.

I cannot join you as I am on holiday staying on a campsite north of Porto. Good driving here (not in the TVR and with a caravan behind the Jag) and off to go port tasting tomorrow.

A small compensation for missing Spa. Oh! And lots of beer here....
