When I decided to purchase my S1, I looked at everything in the market in that price range. I added what I estimated it would cost to bring the other cars up to the almost perfect condition of the S1 (new chassis, rebuilt engine, etc.) and decided, even though the owner was asking quite a bit, I would be getting the most car with the TVR. And regardless of the price, eventually inflation would make up for the amount (if any) I might have overpaid. If I want more power from the 2.8, there are plenty of small block ford experts to help me achieve it without significantly altering the physical appearance of the car.

Mind you, in terms of "bang per buck" the S is still a MOST EXCELLENT car.....for the money, even at 10k

That's just it, the best way of achieving one of the very best S' is to go in with a higher budget, as making a rough one a gem will cost much more if you aren't able to do the work yourself. This blue one could be brilliant, but if so he's missed a trick by not concentrating on the chassis more in the ad. There's a huge difference between a very pretty car and a fully sorted car.
