I can't claim the credit for this idea but it's such a good one it has to be shared smile

If you have been thinking of forking out for a shiney oil filler cap, STOP! Try this first. If you melt off the grotty orange plastic this sparkling little gem is underneath...

On the other hand, if you have just shelled out over 50 quid on a new one, I'm sure it's much nicer. But more than £45 nicer? laugh

Unfortunately the kitchen ceiling is now black and the house smells like a burned out plastic factory

Did you have to polish the bit underneath, and if so, with what?

The metal part is soft like aluminium and polishes up really quickly, I'm expecting it will oxidise in some way and need re doing soon if it's not covered in oil

A bit of de-burring with a fine file followed by a good going over with the buffing wheel and then finish off with Solvol. A good result for about half and hours work.

Plus a week of redecorating for Alan laugh

How much?!!! yikes I paid £3.00 on Ebay, plus postage. The 'O' was knackered though so I'll have to get a new one of those. I suppose that will cost me another quid laugh

Couldn't agree more. An Audi A8 3 litre diesel costs £57,000 give or take, new from an Audi dealer. I only paid £7,000 for mine, slightly used, off the internet. Ok, so it needed a few bits doing.........

TBH I thought that £20 plus VAT and carriage was about what I was expecting. Its £10.25inc VAT from Rimmers as a Rover part
