The V8 motor is considerably more sophisticated.
Is that the same sophisticated V8 that Buick designed way back in the '50s? wink
Yep, I am afraid so, like it or not that Buick engine was pretty sophisticated in conception and the Rover version uses some good developments in both design and component spec. The Ford engine, no matter how you look at it, is an unsophisticated heavy 'carthorse' of a lump. Not convinced? Try tuning a Cologne beyond 300bhp, the V8 has been taken over 1000bhp.

As far as additives are concerned, the Valvoline is a 'modern' oil with additives. I doubt if you could buy a 'straight' mineral 20/50 in this country?

Do a little test for yourselves. If you have a reasonably modern car, check the oil 3000miles after a service, you might be hard put to notice any difference in the oil. Do the same with the old Cologne. I think you will be convinced!
