Delved into my spares box and found one. The round bit is riveted to the main bracket so cleaning up the "teeth" would be difficult, however if it could be turned fresh teeth could be brought into play? By the look of it this would involve grinding the riveted head off turn a bit and perhaps welding back on?
As the quadrant moves and the round bit doesn't I'd imagine the majority of wear is to the round bit?

Plan B would be just buy a new one.

Plan C is promise a tenner to SCH 2015 chosen charity and I'll pop this one in the post !

Think you're right about V6 Sierras.

Thats why I said:
Stick to the 1.8, 2.0 and 2.3 diesel Sierra variants, and you'll be fine.

Nope, 3dr XR4i used drums. Think the XR4x4 and Cosworths were the only disc models. I also have a feeling that discs were fitted to high-spec models with ABS fitted (like 2.9 Ghia 4x4 estate or something), as IIRC you couldn't have ABS and drums on a Sierra. Could be wrong though.

Thanks for all the tips gents. I cleaned them up as far as possible and sailed through the MOT. Now hoping for a bit of good weather.

Glad you got sorted.
Just for the record herewith picture of S1 OSR drum brake showing arrangement of adjuster. This one had been gently filed a couple of years ago and is working fine.

(brake off for a routine check which revealed the start of a cylinder leak, fortunately new cylinder in my stockpile!)

Just for completeness, tried the brake adjuster on the other side. It rotated but didnt slide! Needed cleaning up properly (reminder. do not lubricate with anything greasy, brake dust gums them up!). What I did find is that the cam arm appears to be soft enough to file, but the fixed 'wheel' appears to be hardened so could not be filed. If the 'wheel' is damaged it looks like a new one or try Philpotts suggestion of remove and reweld, I think that would be well worth trying.

That certainly looks like it Robin but it is hard to be exactly sure from one undimensioned picture. Add it to your spares stock?!

I order a pair. I can measure them when they get here.

Here are the adjusters for both sides. Nicely replated over corroded pieces. You can see the rough surfaces in the pictures. But fully functional.

Looks good, but what has he done about any wear on the mating teeth of the adjuster? If they were worn, blasting and replating might have made them worse. However, if he has done them right...good find!

The teeth look good. Very serviceable with little wear.
