My Bush and Box
Discussion
Well Chaps - my gearbox bushes and seals have been done and I am well happy with the gear changes now (almost rifle bolt! - bar 2nd, and it no longer leaves a trail like the Exxon Valdez. Previously trying to keep up with Joe on way up to Blenheim, and struggling to locate the 3rd gear gate on heavy acceleration was a tad embarrassing, and it was getting a struggle after last Euro trip.
The debate in my head now, given it runs a shaggy old LT77 box, is whether anyone on here has done a direct swap out to an R380 or T5 box? Shouldn't it be a direct swap out - do-able at least? Im thinking future here, when the LT77 inevitably caves in. Thoughts?

Sorry about that Pete, incidentally I just stayed in 5th and let the torque do the work - much easier than changing gear Deeman said:

I have read of a number of chim and griff guys that have swapped out T5's in favour of the LT77, claiming it to be a smoother change. It appears you can get equal arguments in favour of both boxes. I think I will hold onto mine and should it fail I will ship,it out to one of the specialists. I have to say that Castrol Syntrans 75-90 has transformed my LT 77. The T5 is a much, much sweeter box than the LT, but you'd need to muck around a fair bit to fit it. R380 is pretty much the same as an LT, just slightly tougher and difficult to find boxes with ratios suited to petrols. I've got a diesel version here which I was going to build into something, but it never happened.
