Look forward to that picture and I will refer it to CBS, glad their part is an improvement (at least as far as fitting it goes).

Re the 'soft' nut, not at all uncommon to see things like that on older cars. Did a job on a Mk2 Midget, their front suspension design is awful* and there is a very important small pin and nut. Noticed some odd corrosion and found an aluminium nut!!!! Probably off a greenhouse!
(if you ever think something on a TVR was designed with insufficient thought, study the stresses on the Midget front suspension!)

Here's a couple of pictures of the top UJ, metal removed from the upper casing. The second one gives an indication on how the acute angle means the casings are very close together
