Hi can anyone help, trying to check timing with strobe but timing marks nowhere near the 13 degrees,to get them near having to retard timing way to much, checked static timing on number 1 and seams fine any help would be great

Timing chain stretches. Cam timing goes out slightly. Distributor is driven from camshaft. Ignition timing therefore also goes out.

Solutions:

1. Replace chain, sprockets and tensioner, reset cam and ignition timing; or

2. Leave it as it is.

Others may be along shortly with more info, but

I think to adjust the timing you need to 'override' the ECU buy putting in a code via a fault code reader.

Un-plugging the throttle pot. will do the same thing.

Was running fine, but put a set of leads on and noticed dizzy was loose I wanted to check the timing hadn't moved getting 26 degrees btdc but when trying to get the stated 15 degrees it's running way to retarded, slow pickup etc
