If I didn't service my own car (which is not difficult by the way, although I realize not everyone has the time or inclination to do it themselves) I would have no problem letting my local trusted garage/mechanic do it for me. It's pretty basic stuff and if they couldn't be trusted to service a Ford Sierra engine then I wouldn't trust them to do anything.
The time to go to a TVR specialist is when you have a problem that even the experts on here can't help you with!

Agree, as from the mechanical point of view, our cars are relatively simple, ford engine, etc., rather thanThe T cars which have strange racing engines.....however sometimes a specialist can be better as they know the nuances of our cars, which ca sometime s help
Some smaller specialists are not as expensive as the more well known ones...depends what is near you.

I both agree and disagree: I used my local independant for years & it seemed ok. Having had a lumoy running problem for a while I took to the specialist-what a difference that made: I had forgotten how good the car used to be to drive & realised what I had been missing out on. So I personally will be sticking with the specialist especially as it is next to no extra money in comparison. I suppose it all depends on how good your local garage is. Best of luck.
