Does anyone make a stainless fuel tank cradle?

Don't know of anything available "off the shelf", and can't recall anyone ever showing off a bespoke version?
I'd stick with mild steel but look at a bit of re-design so it can't fill up with water and rot from the inside out?
For all its faults it has still lasted around 25 years, better thought out and protected should last even longer

Totally agree with Mike (Phillpot)
. A few small mods to a mild steel cradle, and proper protection, and it will last for well over the original 25 years. Mine has drains, was dip painted and waxed.
Do not be misled into thinking a stainless one will not corrode or that it is stronger.
It certainly can corrode dependent on how it is made, and the welds can be more brittle unless it is very well made. Unless you have access to 'offcuts' it will also be dramatically more expensive.
I cannot recall anybody bothering before but maybe someone will put me right.

At last night's club meet, I asked Simon about his rear towing loop attachment hard point, and ( yep, you guessed it!) he's fastened it to the fuel tank cradle ar a body fixing bolt position on his Cossie S.
I expressed my doubts about whether it was strong enough to withstand a good snatch from a recovery vehicle, and he said "If it bends, it bends. It's all new, so it should be up to the job."
So there you go.

I've had a quick measure up and the front towing eyes are a fair way under the front of the car.
So, with this information in mind, my plan is to fix the strap to the chassis rail behind the fuel tank cradle and hold it in place with some velcro or a 'weak' zip tie. This should get around any structural issues and still have it accessible.
I bought two straps so may do similar at the front end.
