Don't ask

I now have to refit the rear roof material to the hoop - I have removed the glue from the hoop but what is the best method to remove from the material. This had been renewed by the previous owner and is in very good condition.

I'd imagine (but could be wrong) any solvent good enough to remove the glue residue won't do the hood fabric a power of good scratchchin

How about trying to scrub the worst off with some very coarse flatting paper, 40 grade?

Very careful use of thinners on a cloth, NOT on the fabric might work but I agree it could just work it into the fabric. If it has a 'rubbery' texture, trying rubbing it with a bit of old inner tube or similar. If you are lucky it may start to come off in little balls. It has been known to work!!!

The trimmer who did my roof told me there are solvents which are specifically for the glues so maybe a little bit of research required might produce what you are looking for. Maybe try Wollies to start with? http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/default.aspx

In the end I opted for 80 grit and a sharp Stanley blade to take most of it off.

Now installed .... now I can see the window is well marked from storage, but certainly serviceable.

The off-side stiffening arm operates with a reasonable force but I cannot get the near-side one to get into the locked position

I'm rushing to complete it as going to Spa next week

I seem to remember seeing a post in the past about adjustable over-centre roof bars ...... anyone know?

Keep up the good work Mick, but don't rush to only stumble at the last hurdle wink

Did you have any luck with rear camber?
