OK hive mind.

What diff oil do I need for the LSD fitted to Samy (S3C). I'm planning on just topping up but may drain as it's off the car.

Secondly, got to fix the driveshalt CVs, well clean out and reassemble. I am missing a couple of the banana shaped washers for the bolts. Anyone know where I can get them or know what they are called. Or did anyone pick up the two outside the Ratstatt last year?

They are called lock plates here in the States. They help to line up the bolt holes and help to prevent the bolts from coming loose. I'd google for a source with the correct pattern.

Hi Stewart, dunno what diff oil you need for your LSD,
sometimes they have a sealed chamber containing a special silicone based fluid that is specialist service only IIRC.

We all had a good look around on the road where your driveshaft let go near Rastatt, but I don't think anyone found any seating plates/ lock plates/ load spreader plates.
I don't think they are anything special, you should be able to make some by cutting segments from a LARGE washer of the correct diameter?
If you can't source them from a Ford place ( Sierra items )

Thanks Glen,

Tamy's LSD is definately a 'Hydraloc' version. Not sure about Samy's one though. Annoyingly, I can't find my Bible to check what 'should' be there. No oil came out the breather pipe as I removed it (and turned it over out of interest). I think the black gundge on it is residual cast off from the CVs letting go after the Rastatt.

Not back until Friday so will hunt out the Bible then. A trip to Halfords on Saturday morning if needed to get some (tranny) oil.

There's no imediate rush for the washers. The diff ends are complete save being cleaned and re-packed before reassmbly. The wheel ends (with the missing washers) need to come off for the brake upgrade. Gives a couple of weeks foraging time.
