Update from Calais...

In an email to the Calais hotel Longers said:

...something along the lines of "The S Club need beer, do not run out this time".

Calais said:

Hi Ian,
Don’t worry, we will have a good supply of beer this time.
And don’t forget the bar is open until 01:00am for alcohol.

Sounds promising.

Maybe we should all email them so that the realise how serious the problem might be if they run out again....I was actually thinking of taking some with, will decide at Tesco's. See you soon :-)

assuming I get to Spa - I'll be going for the slowest lap

I've only done 2 drives out both about 70 miles and only done 70mph

mind you most of the miles were rather bumpy Yorkshire moors ones - did show up one or two niggles which I am sorting out

With miles comes confidence, when you get to the top of that steep climb our of the pit lane at Spa, you will feel the force come upon you, your right foot will suddenly feel strangely quite heavy and you will find out how annoying those silver/ grey slow coach Porkers can be when they suddenly brake just when you're lined up for a perfect run flat through Raidillon. ( Eau Rouge )
Just remember you're not allowed to overtake the pace car

I may have to take it easy this year, decibel wise, coz Austin's Wilson exhaust sounds like a thousand vuvuzelas trying to escape from a dustbin! Absolutely bloody awful!

Just drove 200 faultless miles down to Barry's for a stopover prior to Dover tomorrow. Only trouble is my ears are still bleeding!
Two days ago this trip was hanging in the balance, wasn't sure I was going to make it.
Looking forward to this, I need a nice break.

Judging by the way my head feels this morning I am pretty certain the hotel did NOT run out of beer this time
