I`ve just got my S2 back on all four wheels after a lot of work, the clutch pedal felt a bit stiffer than usual. It freed itself after a bit of foot pressure and now the clutch bites with the pedal close to the floor. There is plenty of fluid in the res`, what sort of problems could I be looking at before I start the investigation ? I`m thinking, maybe, the actuator arm ? or could it be something else. My Chim also has a clutch problem, but that`s an easy fix, thrust bearing is screeching rolleyes Oh the joys of Tiv ownership.

Could it just need more bleeding?

Hello Joe, I haven`t disturbed the hydraulics at all, I carried out outrigger replacement and a big refurb of the front end. The clutch was fine before I carried out the work, I`m just wondering if something mechanical is playing up and what it could be.

Steve - when mine played up I just lost all my fluid. I decided to swap master and slave but stuck with the old copper pipe.

Only a few weeks later it became apparent that this was a mistake as it let go at the slave end.

I think had a weird clicking noise and that turned out to be the external boot on the master cylinder popping in and out of a groove!

And finally I had plenty of fiddling with the slave actuator gap settings as it didn't settle well in the fork.

Having done all that I think I'm more than happy with the result - but might have been easier to just to replace it all from the off rather than bit by bit.

All the bits are cheap enough apart from the stainless braided odd-ended flexi i had to have made up to cure compatibility issues.

Steve, could the push rod have moved in the actuator arm. When I did my gearbox overhaul there was wear where the push rod connected to the arm that created a figure of 8. With the push rod in one of the circles the clutch engaged low and actually slipped. Moved it to the other hole and all was fine.

Still lurking!! And missing it!!

wavey Hello Mark, I trust you`re well and enjoying yourself. I have thought about the actuator arm and your description fits my symptoms, so, I`ll have a good look at it. I`m changing the clutch thrust bearing on the Chim` this weekend, then back onto the S, TVR`s keep you busy hehe
