Original post...

Intermittent problem of losing power in really hot whether if not on a constant move, the engine is not overheating. Will tick over fine but cuts out as soon as you try to move. Leave half hour to cool down and ok

Replaced all the coolant
Replaced coil
Replaced fuel filter
Had a diagnostic
Radiator rebuilt

Fitted an override fan but don't know if this has made any difference yet.

Car has been serviced and Mot'd.

Any ideas?

(Posting on behalf of my dad so bear with me on replies)

Apart from the when hot I would suggest fuel pressure... Ie fuel pump on its way out..

When mine failed it would start and run ok at idle but had no power and would cut out under load..

Cheers

There could be many causes to this problem and you'll need to test various parts of the system one by one and gradually eliminate those that are working OK.

Could be a fuel pump problem and you should also check and clean the air intake system (if not a S3C car), the air flow and air temp. meters. Test also the fuel temperature sensor. All are inputed to the EEC and could be giving spurious readings when hot. Also check the vacuum hoses and is it possible that your coil is getting too hot ? Just a few ideas ........

Hope you can solve it soon.
