I have just been mining the accumulated wisdom of this forum, I won’t say what for – no names no pack drill- but have come across a recurring and extremely irritating theme.

Someone will ask a question, there will then be a considerable dialogue with lots of people offering suggestions and advice, but then it suddenly stops!

No final post to say which of the answers, if any, proved correct, how the problem was solved, or what action was taken.

My plea is for that final post, please can everyone who asks a question let us all know the final outcome and what you decided to do.
It would make the information and advice so much more useful.

Whinge over. (NB; There are some notable exceptions to the above and I found what I needed in the end, thank you.)

There is a Last Post ceremony held every single evening at the Menin Gate, Ypres.

It is a very poignant and moving experience. Everybody should make the effort to attend at least once in their lifetime.

And I agree with Don, it doesn't hurt to post a thankyou acknowledging the solution to a particular problem or quest.

Or Eurostar?
Hotel, camper van or wigwam?
Pease do let us know the outcome of planning a trip to the Last Post.

Well, forgot about this but was looking for another post and spotted it.. Mrs B and I recently attended the S Club tour and stopped in Ypres for a couple of nights on the way back. What a place and an incredible piece of history. Highly recommended

We did the same and went for the 8pm last post - humbling and poignant. A lovely city too; we will definitely stop off again on the way back from EuroTour assuming it's mainland based again :-)

Last Post Ceremony: folk from everywhere. Impressive moments.

Poppies from the sky.

Good to see lots of youth at Ypres / Ieper.
