Hello,

Just wondering if anyone could make recommendations for good, sensible and reasonable garages for servicing an S1 in the north Essex, south Suffolk east Cambridgeshire areas. Any advice welcomed. Many thanks Andrew

Not my "neck of the woods" but......

The S Series are fairly basic cars, are you looking for an ex-dealer type TVR specialist or just a good all round "old school" garage who still remember working on Sierra's and Granada's?

(many of the big name, well known TVR specialists seem to be far more experienced in the Chimeara/Griffith and newer models)

We cater for the S, but are a long way from you. The S is no less complex overall than a Chimaera or Griffith, so I devised a service schedule to suit them, but in terms of just getting the basics done most garages could cater. A Sierra/Granny service would be pretty basic to what a TVR service would cover, that's why they cost so much more than a standard Sierra service - they take longer (assuming the garage in question actually does all the things they're supposed to). The S is a basic car, but not really anymore basic than a Griffith or Chimaera in most areas. There's just as much to be checking and looking for!

You don't go poking outriggers or greasing bonnet hinges on a Sierra service laugh

my references to old Fords was more to the point that they would be familiar with the Cologne V6 engine, powertrain and brakes, all Ford derived components wink

Matt Smith Sports Cars are very good and Matts wife owns an S1 he's at Downham Market but has courtesy cars to make the trip easier, a lot of people from Essex and north London go there.

+1- I use him for all my servicing & repairs and he is both very good & reasonably priced+ I find it highly amusing laugh watching him trying to fold himself into car as he is over 6 ½ foot tall eek

I haven't used them myself but others speak highly of Scole Engineering, Scole,Diss,IP21 4DN (sorry-can't do the clicky/linky thing)

Another satisfied Mat Smith customer here. I travel from Sauf Landen too.

Samy will be going there for a geo and suspension set up once the repairs are done. Tamy was transformed by Mat's deft hands.
