Hi, im completely missing the rear view mirror on my TVR S1, ive had a look at an alternate parts list & some people are saying rover 200, 400 others say peugeot 205.
If someone could let me know which they have in there TVR & where i could get one from i would really appreciate it.
Also ive read about changing the wing mirrors completely? i have these horrible ribbed ones which i guess are the original but ones been replaced with some sort of blue glass on the passenger side looks atrocious..

thanks in advance
steve

Take the opportunity to fit an MG TF rear view mirrow. Has integrated courtosey / map lights. Simple wiring into the existing interior light. Vast improvement. £20 should get you a decent one including mounting block off ebay.

Shame they're not auto dimming too - these are available but £80+ quid.

Pug 205 is the original mirror as far as I know, and fairly cheap on ebay.

As far as door mirrors go there are a number of alternatives. Eg.

Audi TT

Audi A3

Seat Ibzza

Fiat Punto

Also have a look at the Fiesta Mk6. So there is plenty of choice. However, although much better made than the originals, all these modern mirrors are quite large and may not look that good on the car, IMHO. The Audi A3 one is a bit smaller.

I haven't got any photos of them on a car but have a look at Daewoo Matiz mirrors. These are a bit smaller than the other modern mirrors above but are a lot cheaper. These are readily available off eBay for around £10 each for manual ones. Eg

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2000-DAEWOO-MATIZ-OFFSID...

These look like the are a simple fit but we'll only know when someone tries a pair.

So, as you can guess, I've spent a bit of time looking at options and my conclusion, again IMHO, is that the original Citroen CX mirrors on the S3/V8S, although down on quality by comparison, and a pain in the arse to adjust, still look the best.

let us know what you come up with. thumbup

hi, think i read somewhere on here before that you had fitted one of these to your TVR, did you take any snaps of it by any chance?

thanks, i just ebay'd some around £18 i found to be the cheapest, was thinking a cream colour rear view mirror would look good against the cream interior in my car but im definitely envying mk1fan's MG TF mirror now!

@v8s4me not sure if the audi ones would look to modern, i bet there a pain to fit too. Im with you on the citreon cx mirrors they do go the best with these TVR's by far! cant see any on ebay what so ever tho.

They ain't cheap, but do come up reasonably frequently. There's one on EBAY at moment for £95, but I suspect its not selling as it doesn't appear to have the little plastic collar that covers the grub screw. The other alternative you have is the citroen CX parts site, but again - way expensive (something to do with supply and demand, and the fact they were fitted to the Jaguar XJ220 and Aston DB amongst others). I'll ping the link if I can find it, but it should be on the links at the top of the S Site. Pete

I've used Fiesta - they look small on a Fiesta and huge on the S - but nicely curved too.
If doing again I'd choose the Audi A3

They look sweet! I haven't got electric ones, think my wish list just got bigger.. Upgrade from manual to electric windows, rear view mirror & wing mirrors!

I'd like to know what bracket to use to fit the MG windscreen rear view mirror. All of the mirrors on fleabay come without this.

Thinking the same thing mate! Virtually every rear view mirror I looked at didn't come with the damn mounting bracket

Phone/email the seller, I did and he popped a bracket in with it, no extra charge smile

You can get them from a Land Rover dealer apparently. Both mine came with the screen keys.

Hi Magpies

I think you have posted ALL the photos on your phone by mistake.

Interior mirrors, I would look at the options in Car Builder Solutions website.

Exterior mirros, plenty of previous posts on this one. Try : http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=141...

I have Mk1 MX5 mirrors. Everyone seems to agree that they look right on the S and the difference they make to rear view is FANTASTIC! What is more there is quite a good MX5 owners group and I could get new stainless internals very easily.

The Mazda mirrors do look "right" on the 'S'. thumbup

Here's and interesting "Old School" option I spotted on an 'S' at Spa recently...

Winguard Zanetti. So really old school.
