S2 sold at Classic Car Auctions
Discussion
I am afraid I do not have any details but the monthly auction report in Classic and Sports Car magazine refers to the sale by Classic Car Auctions of a 1990 TVR S2 in excellent restored condition selling for £9572. (incl buyers premium) That is pretty encouraging. Wish I could find details of the actual car.

I seem to remember Glenrobbo's car has an even more unlikely model designation, and a few others have commented about this.
Yep, my "Austin-ELY" was registered by TVR from new as a Tasmin, at the same time as a batch of other Tasmins. It is one of the first batch of S's built, so presumably the admin staff were so used to registering Tasmins, it was a logical thing to carry on doing so. Nobody ever bothered to change the model type on the registration document until I tried in 2011 when I purchased the car.
DVLA would only alter the model type if I could obtain a letter of verification from the manufacturer, which was a bit difficult as they had ceased to trade a few years earlier.
Many 2.9 S's are registered as 280S, even some V8Ss are registered as 280 or 290S's.
It's all a bit of a hodge podge really
Nobody knows exactly how many S's were produced, or how many remain today.
It's easier to plait fog!

WOW!If that it the correct car, then it has had huge money spent on the cosmetics in the cabin area, (making it look pretty) but absolutley zero detail is shown of the mechanicals!
