Just returned from an excellent weekend of driving in the Lake District with my 16 year old son. He appreciates the S3 driving experience so much more than my wife.

We've seen some beautiful sights, driven some scary roads, and given the S3 a thorough workout!! Particularly the steering and brakes.

Has anyone else on here driven their S on Hard Knott Pass? Surprised the exhaust is still on. Great trip, but don't think I will be taking the S down that road again!!

yikes I can imagine Duncan's Trials S doing Hardknott, but I don't think I'd attempt it in Austin.

A few years ago I was going up it in a Golf, and a Mini coming down had one wheel about 3 feet off the ground as he was inching round the corner. The road camber was just so extreme!
It is a spectacular scenic route though, ad the old Roman Fort has some amazing views.

Hardknott!! Surprised you had enough lock to get round some of the hairpins. Frightened myself once on it while riding a sports motorcycle with limited lock. Got briefly stuck on it almost 50 years ago in a 3 speed Bedford campervan which couldnt pull up the sharp incline on one hairpin. Went over it in the snow on a Trials Honda when I was young a foolhardy. It is a rather special piece of road isnt it?

Drove over it in 2007. If you look very closely at the picture, you can still see the silver line down the middle of the road that used to be my exhaust!!!
