Hi Guys,
Does anyone have a source for the Escort Mk4 Rear Lights used on the S series ?
Earlier this year I re-assembling my car after a complete body off chassis rebuild and have now had the body re-sprayed.
One of the rear lights has a slight crack starting and it seems a shame to put this back on an otherwise pristine car.

I am sure that this issue has been raised previously but I am not getting far with searching through the forums.
What has happened, the current PH search engine is a nightmare, I had trouble even finding any of my previous topics.

Phillpot beat me to it! ( He is a lot younger and more nimble than I am wink )

Ebay item no 261971062397 (same as above)

I noticed there are not many of the rear lampholders advertised. They are usually the problem area with their grotty corroded tinfoil circuit strips.
They were never very good on the Escort frown

Escort Mk4 units do come up fairly regularly on ebay, just put a search topic in and ask for email notifications. I recently bought two brand new ones for quite reasonable money (for stock!)

Hi Guys,
Thanks for that Ebay lead.
I will see what we can do on that on that one.
The PCB connector does look a little flimsy but both of mine have survived and even they fail it would not be difficult to hand wire the whole cluster via a replacement connector if necessary.

Hi BLO4ND0,
If you do find a pair lurking in your garage please let me know, ebay purchasing can be a little fickle.

Mike, checked in the box last night, passenger side is in perfect condition but driver side has small part of edge missing. Don't want anything for them (except maybe cost of shipping) so happy to send over. Paul

Hi Guys,
I have just won the auction on Ebay for the pair of lights.
Hopefully they will be as described and will suit.
If not I will be back chase up the other options.
Thanks for all the inputs.

try looking for RS turbos being broken...they tend to be a good source and there are a number about.

Hi Guys,
The latest on my rear lights.
The Ebay purchases arrived very quickly and both were certainly "as new" if not actually new. Arrived in their boxes.
I removed my old ones a fitted the new so everything is now "tickety boo" on the lights front (actually rear!).

I now have a spare pair of original Ford Escort Mk4 rear lights.
The offside one (TVR S offside, Escort nearside) is undamaged the nearside (TVR nearside) one has a small crack in the indicator lens, but only in non-illuminated side panel part of the lens. so still functionally sound.
Thanks for all the pointers.
Mike

Well done! The old ones go into the stock shelving, on which you will gradually accumulate all sorts of S bits!

My spares stock is expanding much quicker than my garage.
Already have a spare engine (complete and running), spare exhaust pipe (unused), spare dashboard (S1) complete with instruments, spare door cards, spare targa panels (need recovering) spare roof hoop (needs recovering)and sundry other things.
I do like to keep things that "may come in handy one day"!
I think it is called "hoarding"....

Looks like yours are fine,
It must be the Escort that has managed to mount them upside down!

It would seem that I have been propagating a myth but I am sure that somewhere in the dim distant past I was advised that when fitted to the S these lights were mounted upside down.

I have just checked my S and even the FORD logo is the right way up.

My apologies please ignore previous references to Ford Escort or TVR S mounting the rear lights upside down.

Mike
