I only put heat shield on the passenger side to cover the vent hole. The driver side is still bare. I have removed the resistors anyway.

If I get time, I may well do similar to cover the driver's vent hole too.

'Repaired' the paint on the arb this evening. A couple of days to dry and will fit on Friday.

Ordered a couple of bits from the motor factors so looks like all the parts should be in place for Friday.

Battery fitted in the temporary position.

ARB and drop links fitted.

Battery cables given new erminals.

Block cleaned up ready for fitting the heads tomorrow morning.

No photos as I just got on with things but I'll take some tomorrow. Bit tight ahead of Sunday's trackday at Hethel.

Nearly there.

Heads on, tappets adjusted, plenum on, manifolds on, coil relocated, washer wiring rerouted and a few other bits done.

Hopefully, will get it finished tomorrow morning and headmoff to Lotus for the trackday. Poor phone photos below.

She lives!!

Clearly I misaligned the distrbutor during installation. Bit of lateral thinking and some repositioning of the HT leads and up she fired.

I'll redo the distributor later along with the rust repairs.

Fitted the replacement horns and added some wires for the cigarette lighter / trickle charger input.

Found that what I thought was a leaking radiator turned out to be a dirt accumulation beteeen a hose and the rad. Unfortunately, found what must be a small weep on the other side of the rad. Again, I'll deal with it during the light refurb.

Good two days. Travelled up to Anglesey yesterday from London. Went via the Evo Triangle so got that ticked off.

Loverly road and first time I've done it. Car was beaut.

Today started out sunny and clear.

But turned wet.

Car ran great. Drove home - 315 miles - on one tank of fuel! Just.

Did a few minor jobs on the car inbetween track incursions.

Swapped out the induction hoses that had become a bit brittle. Also, adjusted the bonnet strike pins but now the passenger wiper is just touching the bonnet. I'll see if it get worse.

Clearly I've not been paying attention,
which(1/2) thread did you put on the arb spigots?
Also, they're golf bats in the photo, does this indicate the flavour of V8 you're after?smile

Not UNF as that is the thread of the drop links and they didn't match so used the nuts the engineer gave me rather than stainless.

I reckon that's about 28 to the gallon, not bad including a track session (not trying hard enough wink )

Are the indicators and hazards sorted/behaving themselves now?

315 was from the circuit. Used a tank during the day. Not sure how much was left in the tank as I put 22 litres in from the jerry can this morning to get to my meeting and the needle pinged up to 2/3s full.

Haven't investigated them any further as yet. I am going to try an incandescent bulb on one side to see if it stops the ghosting. If it doesn't, then connect the two light cluster earths and see if this works (I had split them and ran one side to the earth point above the fuel sender). If this doesn't work, then extend a lead direct to the battery. I'm at a loss where to go after that. The fronts and sides don't ghost.

If the hazards don't work after the above, I'll test the switch first then the wiring. It's the square type so hopefully a spare should be easy to source.

Went to the Sausage Meet this morning and managed to dislodge the hockey sticks on a speed hump.

So first job was to put them back in.

Next up was trying to sort the indicator ghosting. Tried an incadescent bulb and still ghosting. Next combined the cluster earths on to a dedicated earth. Still ghosting. Next ran an earth direct to the battery. Still ghosting. Next swapped the relay. Still ghosting. Then, finally, I swapped the stalk for Samy's one. Still ghosting and still no hazards. So, next step is to check the wiring diagrams and then trace the wiring for damage.

So, next up I connected the dangling dashlights wiring from the removed ballasts together so there weren't live wires loose.

I also connected the wires to the brake fluid reservoir.

Found out why the boot solenoid wasn't working. The spade connector was broken. New connector and boom goes spaghettio.

Next, adjusted the bonnet pins so the bonnet releases when the lever is pulled rather when you go over a man hole! Time will see if they are now right.

Finally changed the front end slightly.

To track down the ghosting I recommend you get a cheap analog voltmeter/multimeter and use that to see how the ground and positive voltage levels are changing as you turn the source of the ghosting on and off. Small pulses that may be difficult to see on a digital meter will be much easier to see on an analog meter. Once you know how the ghosting is happening, the fix should be obvious.

Try running power direct to the lamp. Still ghosting?

Ps, is one headlight full of water? Shadow I hope
