After driving around this summer the oil pressure reading has started to drop erratically. It's not losing any oil (still at top of dipstick after 6 months) so I suspect the sensor or electrics.

I've tried to replace the sensor (big black rubber sensor mounted on the LHS of the engine block) with a new unit "Oil Pressure Sensor/Switch". New unit arrives and is alot smaller than the original item. Fitted and - it's a switch. Luckily the switch indicates that the oil pressure is good, but would like the gauge to actually read oil pressure!

Anyone know where to purchase the oil pressure SENSOR - i.e. one with an analogue output suitable for the gauge?

Thanks - Richard.

This is the correct item, they are good to deal with, Neil knows his TVR's
http://www.mlperformanceparts.co.uk/product/oil-pr...

Regrettably TVR Parts Ltd do not have that item available yet.

Demon Tweeks do sell several oil gauge senders but you would have to check if they have one with the right fitting for the Ford Cologne and the right voltage output range for the TVR gauge.

It might also be worth checking with Burton Power as they are probably the top Ford engine development company.

This is the one I fitted. It works fine. (If your old one has an adaptor fitted you will have to transfer it to the new sensor), and you have to wire one of the connections to earth. (There is a nearby earth on the chassis where it connects to the outrigger). NB it doesnt have to fit to a sandwich plate.

I hope that's a typo. If not then rtg can have mine at half price, only £457. I'll even pay the postage.

Many thanks I'll get one ordered - Mine's only got one connection, but this winter's job is re-wiring the car so I'll fix a temporary wire to test and then add this into the new loom.
Cheers, Richard.

A sandwich plate goes between the oil filter and the engine usually to provide extra pressure and temperature sensor ports, though some oil coolers/remote filters use a type of sandwich plate, with a cover, to connect to the engine.
