Hi all

I know this comes up pretty frequently, and I have tried to use the search function on the site. I don't consider myself to be a total luddite, but for the life of me I can't make it narrow the search to anything remotely useful...

So, if people can be very kind and do it all again, what tyres (in 205/60R16) do people use? I'm looking to change mine away from the fuel-savers that are currently on there! The best I can see so far seem to be Vredestein Sportrac 5's (which seem to get very mixed reviews) or Continental Premium Contact 5's which seem pretty good if not very sporting.

Have I missed an option? Ideally, I would go for grip/handling and sod the efficiency and road noise etc...! I was even considering a more track focused tyre, but these don't seem to appear in the right size either.

All help and forbearance are appreciated...!

A good many of us are now running Dunlop BluResponse (Bluerinse for the GTS)and are very happy with them. Phenomenal wet grip and braking.

I went for Toyo proxes CF1 - available in 205/60 R15 with a V rating - very pleased with them.

BluReponse here as well Jeremy. Very good all round ( don't fit the square ones or those that are flat at the bottom ), even in the snow. smile

And remember that Dunlop sponsor the TVR DTEC ( Tuscan Challenge ) race series. smile

Thanks for all the feedback chaps. Dunlop seem a popular choice.

I did see some more choice available with a lower speed rating (H or 130mph). I know this is a little low, but I don't think I'd ever have the bottle to try and take it any higher, even assuming it could go any faster!

Does anyone know the original tyre ratings were from TVR? I'd be interested to know, and also worth knowing from an insurance point of view...

The Steve Heath book says 205/60VR15 for the V6 and ZR for the V8S.

I have Conti Sport Contact 5 on TGTVR and other than being able to melt them when really pressing hard on a track - I have found them very predictable in both wet and dry...

I have just checked, as I doubted myself - and indeed I have written my wheel details down wrong! What a fool...

Should be 205/60R15.

It looks like the same basic range is still available in that size though, so could well be some Dunlops in my future (if I ever get the brakes finished)!

I'm sure they'll be fine as I won't be pushing on in the wet - I do have another set of wheels with Bridgestones if need be

Good advice! Although there might have been a bit of stupidity/lack of skill involved here as well wink

What you really need are Bridgestone Fuel Savers... A combination of those and my rear suspension set way too hard (plus a certain lack of driving talent) meant the last track day I did I could hardly keep up on the sighting lap...!
