Hi all,

Just tried fitting the fuel line from tank to pump and realised why in the Steve Heath manual it mentions reinforced fuel hose. The angle from the tank to the pump is too tight for the thin cotton over braided hose I've bought and the result is that it kinks rather than keeping it's shape. I've also noticed that the old plastic pipe between the fuel pump and filter has a kink in it so a little worried it will restrict the flow of petrol or even worse fail completely.
So does anyone know where I can get the reinforced fuel hose that I believe is 5/8" or 16mm ID and what hose size will fit between the two banjo's between the pump and filter?

Thnks in advance

Just found This

Why oh why do I find what I'm looking for two minutes after I post on the forum rolleyes

Might be useful for those looking to replace their own fuel hose.

Still looking for the fuel hose between the two banjo's?

Would certainly have done the job Chris but thinking about where this pipe is and what it's carrying the idea of a reinforced pipe does sound safer

That semi-rigid plastic hose is not easy to work with. One option may be to cut it off the end fittings and replace with 5/16" - 8mm rubber fuel hose and appropriate clips?

Chris. IIRC the A2 grade marine hose is metal reinforced. You should be able to find some with a suitable search on the interweb. Tony.

I used Chandlery World ISO 7840 A1 Marine fuel hose, 16mm ID 25mm OD.
Fitted a treat. Bit expensive but very good product for an area you don't
want to tackle to often.

I just had an idea and checked to see if the original tank to pump hose had any marking and I found "SAE 100 R1 -10" written under a thick layer of waxoyl, on (what I believe is) my original S2 hose. The -10 marking means this is a 5/8" (15.9mm) ID hose.

Anyone fancy a group buy ? Who lives close to Huddersfield ?
SAE HOSE.

2m each for 12 of us smile --> £1.60 / m !

You want R6 or R9 grade ideally. Deals with ethanol much better. It's available on eBay per metre. I think hose master do it too.

Thanks for the hint. That makes sense now we have 10% Ethanol in our fuel. Back in the day when the cars were new, this was not an issue.

I don't know what you are talking about, mine never had anything between the tank outlet and the pump - I've fitted a large fuel filter. Do you have a photo of your 'swirl pot/accumulator'.

Is this the little chappy, Capri 2.8 accumulator....

On the cars with 2.9 engines there should be a fuel damper in the 5/8" pipe between tank and pump....
