2016 S Club Euro Tour - 007 - Going Dutch

Thank you to Longers for organising another wonderful trip.
And a big Thank-You to Tony, Max, Lawrie and Terry for your help with my fuel pump problem. Martyn for the sweeties and Lyn for coping with me on a sniff petrol high !
Wasn't it all great fun ? And despite traffic jams, multiple breakdowns, being late for every meal and truly frightening storm driving - it's the wonderful S people who create the memories that make these trips so special. Oh, and these little cars are rather fabulous too.
Hope everyone got home safely.

Did you drive it Karen? Pete
HI Pete. Karen did not drive it as it was playing up a tad. We have a new list of jobs to do including sorting out the cooling fan that packed up on Sunday afternoon. After checking it out, we wired it up to the horn (they were disconnected). Not ideal but kept it cool when we hit traffic a couple of times on the way home.
When we get it sorted, Karen will drive it again I am sure. Oh and we met the owner of it from 20 years ago at the tunnel. What are the chances of that?
Hope to catch up soon mate.
Thanks to Longers for another great trip. Thanks also to Potless Paul for all his help and support following my breakdown* yesterday. We finally got off the M25/M40 at 4.30pm this afternoon. Thanks Paul
- fans stopped working and overheated on the autoroute in torrential rain. Crawled off to find somewhere dry to effect a repair. The driest place we could find was a car-wash. Says it all
One of the boot lid drain pipes came off and the other one blocked, so the boot flooded and everything but everything in there got soaked. Paul bailed it out on Monday but it filled up again today. Just to show how wet everything got, all the small boxes were sealed inside the bigger box, but still every single one of the small boxes had water in it. Amazing!
Oh dear....
So, the big question. Did the roof remain weather tight? Yes it did!

That would have been in Antwerp.....you were spotted !! Glad you got it sorted, Joe !- fans stopped working and overheated on the autoroute in torrential rain. Crawled off to find somewhere dry to effect a repair. The driest place we could find was a car-wash. Says it all

..... When I find the problem, I'll post it up...
This possibly? So the lesson is....check the obvious things first you toer!
What threw me was I had 12V at the otter switch so I discounted the fuse and the relay.
Paul - would this cause the "voltage drop" you were explaining to me on Monday night?
Although it still doesn't explain why only one fan ran when we hot-wired them to Paul's battery. I have still to see if the other fan will spin with an independent power supply.

Just to add our thanks to Longers, Han and all the S Club crew - a great trip made more so by the company.
Good to meet some new faces forming new friendships.
Horrendous conditions heading home so we cancelled our 2 extra days in the end and travelled back with Niige, Lyn (Mrs Niige), Turbo Tony and Baz his grandson. 420+ miles in the day taking 15 hrs - had to stop driving in parts as the rain was biblical and couldn't see the front of the car and wagons cutting in too soon.
The new car performed really well and apart from the hot start issue and minor footwell leak got us around the tour and home again, which before the trip was not a certainty.
Roll on next year
