From the Wedge Forum

Think it was Norman (GeraldTVR) who looked into getting some made, the oval section is not a stock profile so cost became prohibitive..............

Hmm interesting, these would compliment the interior nice! Could do with see'n a few snaps tho (shame they weren't chrome to match my dash vents rolleyes)
Other option would be to get current ones powdercoated for around £40

The alloy stays are (imho) in a different league to those crappy steel things used on most S's with their rattly loose pivots and hinges.

I presume these guys know what they're doing and theirs will be as good, if not better than, the TVR units?

Yes must admit my roof stays are stiff as fk to fold well the one of them at least, its like a arm workout laugh so I'm interested in these! Just hope they fit the S well

Its me having a crack a this.

The S and wedge Struts, as I am led to believe, are the same so we will be making them to the same dimensions as the existing box section ones fitted in both our cars (I have a wedge)

Going to make some mock ups first and check for fitment and hopefully then push on to some alloy ones.

I will post pics in both the S and wedge forums as we go, input or suggestions more than welcome as we go.

As current custodian of G39ALD I can confirm that the alloy ones are lovely.

Can take pics/measure if required.

Original Chimaera stays (that will fit an S)......

ideaHere's an idea, how about some budget price "don't bend in the middle" ones for Chimaera owners (added bonus, easier to polish) then they could sell their folding ones to S / Wedge drivers

Above Griff hood is up to prevent damage to it's interior when it catches fire and the sprinklers operate.
Also prevents theft of chestwig/medalions etc.
Might be up for some ally stays.

The ally ones can still bite just as well as the steel struts. I've seen it happen frown

No Steve, Austin didn't want me to put his roof on!

That was a good while ago.
But I watched a Dark Sider do exactly the same thing with his nice shiny alloy stays, despite my warning him. Ouch!

Steve Austin? Wasn't he the bloke that they rebuilt at a cost of six million dollars?

I have just recieved the demo alloy roof stay and test fitted it on my S. I must say, it look good, and I'm very pleased with the quality of it.

A big thanks to ibroker for sorting this, as they are a big improvement on what went before! The only thing that I will feed back to the company making these to (hopefully) incorporate on my set when they are made is to chamfer the corners of the 'feet' of the stays as where they bolt to the roof hoop they are going to cut straight through the vinyl/leather.

That small and easily rectified issue apart, I'm highly delighted with it

Now I just need some nice stainless nuts and bolts to go with them when they arrive!
