Slippery slope Trev... baffled sump and sticky tyres
Certainly is I have been agonising over upgrading the brakes for months, seems to me if it's a kit to fit inside the original 15" wheels my choice is between AP very expensive but generally considered the best or a choice between willwood, highspec or wms, probably still have the same brakes this time next year.Slippery slope Trev... baffled sump and sticky tyres

You choices are limited if you want to keep the 15" fronts. I went for the Alcon kit from David Gerald (Classic World Racing) which fit under my 15" fronts as wanted to keep the car looking original. If you want to hear my ramblings then click the link below. Sounds like you are methodically and sympathetically modifying the car which is good for getting the best out of track days but without compromising it as a road car which is exactly what I am doing with mine. Baffled sump is a good investment as an insurance policy and certainly required with sticky tyres as the G forces will now be much greater. https://matthewpoxon.wordpress.com/2015/07/26/brak...

An alternative upgrade that will retain the OE look but still provide a good upgrade is to fit bigger brakes from the Ford range. What used to be the 887/888 calliper upgrade - these are getting rare now and prices are reflecting this - can now be done with Fiesta 2.0 ST front callipers. Can usually be had for around £75 for a set including carriers off the bay of evils.
Add to that a pair of 283mm Sierra Cosworth discs - get them turned down to 278mm by an engineering shop - and some quality pads. Probably looking around the £200 mark all in.
The above should all bolt directly onto the upright. They even use M10 mounting bolts! You may need some spacing washers on between the upright and the calliper carrier to get alignment right.
Alternatively get some 278mm discs and fit a 10mm (ish) spacer between the upright and the calliper carrier.
Change of brake fluid and you're away. Not had any issues with the above set up on track.

After a chat with his Scoobs, I suggest we plan (for those staying nearby) a suitable curry night at the local (mullet free) shapla. Anyone up for that?
Hi Steve, can't make the event but would love to meet up (again after our chance encounter) at the Shapla. Would you let me know eta for that?
Thanks,
Jeremy

My V8S has suprisingly good brakes for 240mm discs. I'm keen to see how fade resistant they are

I would echo that - used both those compounds in the past (on the scoobs) and a great balance for high temp with no fade yet work perfectly well when cold.Currently running red stuff and they feel very similar
should i book the 8th as well?
