Barn Farm Camping 2016 - The last weekend of June - Fri 24th to Sun 26th

OK all you S Club peeps,

Following the successful first four dummy runs, here are the details for the Fifth edition of our fun weekend based at Barn Farm Camping, Birchover, Derbyshire DE4 2BL

Itinerary :- Arrive from noon onwards on Fri 24th June to set up.
Book in at reception, pay on arrival, £8.50 per person per night. Tell them you're with the TVR Club & they will tell you where to go. wink

Last time for meal orders at the Red Lion 8pm. Best to book with them in advance. Opportunity to sample one or two fine cask ales ( or white wine for the ladies ).

Scenic Run-out Sat 25th June. Starting 10:45 am from Barn Farm, 11:00 prompt at the Druid Inn Car Park. Lunch at the Ladybower Inn at 13:15 ish.
After lunch, another 30 - 40min drive to complete the run.

Evening is free to cook dinner at the campsite ( Yeah right! ) or repair once more to the Red Lion for Snake & Nail Pie & chips or similar, then we have a post-run analysis, snail racing & maybe just one more pint.
Again, best to book for your meals in advance.
The Druid Inn just down the road is slightly more upmarket for those who enjoy fine dining. ( I think they serve their black pudding with a sprightly ( dunno what that is , I typed 'sprig' but it sounds posh! ) of mint instead of a big dollop of mustard ) But we haven't sampled the food there, only the beer, which did well in our consumer test, eh Andy?

Sun 26th June: Pack up & bid fond farewells to the lovely people whose company you've enjoyed throughout the weekend. Or explore the splendid local countyside a little more. Cromford is fascinating, and there's a nice place called the Pack Horse in Crowdecote that does good food. ( pre booking essential ) The road to it is our very own Peak District alpine twisty. Care needed!

A couple of points to mention, please ensure you arrive fuelled up ready for the Sat run, its about 90 miles with scant opportunity to stop for petrol en route.

Do not try to approach Birchover from the south via Birchover Lane, it really is unsuitable for motor vehicles. Continue north on the B5056 for approx 1/2 a mile, turn right, you will see the campsite signposted.
It is at the top end of the village on the right, be careful over the speed bumps.

Please keep the noise down after 10:30pm, definitely NO number11's along Birchover High Street ( and no number 1's or 2's for that matter ! nono )
If we behave ourselves, they may just let us do it again next year.
The route will be the same as previous years, the new route we had planned will have to wait for next year, as we've had no time to do a full recce.
Andy ( Lynch ) has the route ( thanks Andy ) & satnav files ( thanks Han ) which he can email to those who request them.

I'm putting a cap on numbers of 25 peeps maximum on the Saturday lunch at the Ladybower as they can't cater for more than that in one fell swoop. First booked on my list, first served. Alternatives are the Snake Pass Inn, or some pubs down the road in Bamford.

See you on the weekend!

That would be the route I prepared, then? wink

I can't believe it was only four years ago. Who were those two guys you picked up, Glen?

Bloody sausage-stealers!

Hope Tinks will come with his burger van...

I hope to make it with the new TVR without the V.

Hi Graham,
Yep, your route was in 2012, the year of the London Olympics, when Tom 'Darkside' Crawford suggested Barn Farm as a replacement venue when the Sheffield Emergency Services Show was cancelled leaving SCH in limbo and Donnysoutherner out of pocket. And Tom without his Chim front splitter, lost somewhere along the Strines road!
In subsequent years we have done a route a little further south.

I hope you can make it in your TR, and it would be good to see Tinks & Penny as well, but now the Mini tows a mini caravan. Proper glamping smile

Thoroughly enjoyed last year, look forward to finding remnants of my exhaust on route this year smile

Is it possible if we request this far in advance that the Peacocks stay quiet untill at least 7am?

Welcome Lawrie & Jez smile

Lawrie, the peacocks will remain silent if you keep your snoring volume below the decibel limit of 97dbA. Exceeding this is the trigger that sets them off. Eeyah! Eeyah! Also remember to keep a close guard on your sausage. As Graham can confirm, those brightly-plumed asbestos-beaked brigands will have it away in the blink of an eye if you're not ever-watchful yikes

Jez, no objection to your Dark Side craft,we all know how gutted you are, and how much you miss your S weeping
And it was Tom TJC146 who initially suggested Barn Farm as a suitable venue for our cavortings. And he had been seduced by the Dark Side even then.

Graham, are you a definite maybe, or perhaps a possibility? And will Stuart be coming along as a chaperone? wink

Glen, your first post would suggest we don't need to book the campsite in advance - is that correct?

Please include us for Saturday lunch.

Does anyone have an ITN file for the route?

Regards,
Graham
